Figured I'd make a companion thread to the other one.

Considering it's something I've wanted since the post-credits stinger of Iron Man, my excitement levels would be off the charts! (I can't even fathom it, it'd just be awesome!)

Got a gif for this very situation?

Me upon hearing the deal has happened:

Me, I'm just gonna make sure I don't jump through the ceiling in joy come January.

It wont ;)

Seriously though, I'm reminded of the saying 'careful what you wish for'
I still think the surest way to 'fix' the Spider-Man movies is for Sony to take a 'hands off' approach (Social Network/District 9) and give the movie to a director with a clear vision who has a proven track record for delivering beautiful movies with mature sophisticated story telling showcasing complex characters. To me that trumps crossovers and movie continuity. I'd rather have a 'Dark Knight' than a 'Avengers'.

With all of that said, I would be excited at the news (honest) ;)

I'd feel great joy, indescribable by gif.

I'd burn my Tobey shrine, for I don't need it anymore, my Garfield hate circle would serve no further purpose, for spider-man had ascended into the heavens of the MCU. I would praise new Tobey with grace, and pray for a Spider-Man who doesn't cry about his parents.

It's MCU time, baaaby

I don't see Sony being "hands off" with anything regarding Spidey at their studio, even after everything that's happened. I would be a hell of a lot more comfortable with the deal. My reaction would be all of those gifs at once.

I'd say they'd better wait after the upcoming 6 cinematic years before making plans for the webhead.

As I typed this in I remembered the bits between Ross (before Red Hulk) with Spider-Man, now I'd like to see something like that on screen if they add Spidey to the MCU.
And no Red Hulk.

Said it before and I'll say it again, not a chance in hell you're gonna get that from Sony. They won't leave their last golden egg in the hands of a film maker, no matter how talented he or she may be.

I'd be almost as excited as I was when I first joined these boards back in 2000, when it was called Spider-Man Hype. Those were great days for Spidey fans.

Obviously a move to the MCU would be huge. And in a dream scenario I'd love Whedon to tackle Spidey. He's got an amazing feel for this type material and being great at characterization, humor and drama would fit Spidey to a tee. At this point someone like Goddard would be more realistic, but he would be as close as you could get. Another guy I'd love is Brad Bird, he has the Disney connection and the right sensibilities for this. Honestly though, I'd be open minded to someone off the board, which it will probably be.

On a side note, if this franchise ever gets traction again and is elevated to top-tier status, I would think the boards may need more then one lowly moderator. Who knows, if traffic increases dramatically they may need the 3 that Captain Marvel currently has....If anyone has any doubts that this plummeting franchise needs to be extracted from Sony ASAP, then the fact that Spider-Man only has one mod on the former Spider-Man Hype should convince you. :cwink:

I find this part of the forum so weird.. There are several posters here who I never see in any other section, and if I'm being brutally honest, I think this part of the site attracts a much younger crowd.

I find it so odd that there was an entire subplot of this movie cut out that featured Oscorp keeping tabs on Peter for whatever reason... Goes to show you just how much of a mess this film really was, they probably shot a good 3 hours worth of footage.

I agree. And a lot of the posters who were dominant on the Spidey boards back in the heyday have just moved on. Many still post on SHH, but this franchise is obviously in the rear-view mirror and they've moved on to greener pastures. Certainly understandable considering recent history.

It's extremely odd, yeah.

Though I'm not surprised...

Although I'm not as disappointed with the ASM films as everyone else, and although I was an avid supporter of the idea in the beginning, now I'm leaning more against it.

It has less to do with Sony and a lot more to do with Marvel themselves. Seeing the way Marvel's built up its universe piece by piece and what it's all gradually leading into, I'd much rather have a new version of Spidey inserted naturally in the continuity than a version which, more or less, kinda just shows up.

Plus, I'm really digging the idea of reintroducing a young Peter Parker in a post-Thanos world, where the Avengers' popularity hits its peak and how that relates to his underdog status. I don't think you can capture that as well if Spidey already exists in the current MCU events.

Again, Social Network and District 9 made with complete autonomy. The problem isn't Sony it's the producers they have put in charge of Spider-Man.

There are only two times I have left the Spider-Man forums for extended periods; 1) in the build up to both ASM movies (to avoid spoilers) and 2) I spent weeks on the Iron Man 3 forums to vent how ****ing **** I thought that movie was.

The producers of ASM1 should be taken out and whipped through the streets of New York.

In the theatrical version Peter goes to the sewers and sees the master plan of the Lizard playing on loop :whatever:

In the deleted Scene Peter takes (Conners who has returned back to human after the high school fight) down to the sewer and in a heart to heart Conners tells Peter his plan. Asian guy then shoots Conners and tells Peter being Spider-Man isn't an accident. Conners changes into the Lizard and EATS Asian guy. I saw this and thought, well, Asian guy must be in the sequel hence why the entire scene had to go. Nope, Asian guy doesn't appear in ASM2.

I'm sorry but on what PLANET is what made the theatrical cut better than the deleted scene?! Same goes for the 'Lizard Rat' scene and the deleted scene the Lizard Rat scene replaces. Incompetence from the Sony producers. You need better producers that let the film makers make a movie. Sack the producers and get better producers.

Social Network and District 9 shows Sony are capable of making good movies with the right people in charge.
