If Tim Burton did the Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, what villains would he have chosen, who would he cast for them, and how would he portray them? Also who would he cast for Robin and Batgirl and how would he portray them?

we know he wanted to do Two Face, with Billy Dee playing him, and Billy Dee has said it would have been very different than Tommy Lee Jones version...I could see Burton using someone like Scarecrow as well, possibly Johnny Depp playing him?

Howard Stern was once approached for the role of Scarecrow. That would've been interesting to watch!

We know that Johnny Deep was to eventually have a role in the Batman films, considering him and TB are such friendly collaborators.

Well Marlon Wayans was actually paid out for his Robin role, they'd already done the contract. He was young mechanic with an R on his overalls. Serious. I forget if he was supposed to be in Returns or Burtons Forever. There's also an early storyboard for B89 floating around net - it has Batman chasing the Joker into a circus and then the Graysons die but the idea was abandoned pretty early on in development.

Yeah i can see Johnny Depp doing a good Riddler ^

According to the IMDB trivia, he was signed on for both of 'em.

He would have done the full mutant Poison Ivy, that's fer sure.

And Batgirl :D

I would have loved for Burton to continue the franchise, his Scarecrow would have been awesome (not to mention his Two-Face)

Less garish neon lighting would be a start. I'm going to say he would have cast Christopher Lee as Mr. Freeze.

tim burton would have i think tried to make a only slightly lighter batman film for his 3rd movie. kinda like goerge lucas has done with both star wars OT and indiana jones, first one is the awsome classic, 2nd is the dark 2nd chapter, and the 3rd is much lighter then the 2nd one but ties everything together. but i doubt burton would go lucas bright for his third. for 2 face he would have billy dee williams of course and i bet he would have rocked. as for robin and batgirl, mr freeze and poison ivy, forget it, burton would never include those characters. he has already expressed how he never really thought robin worked well with a dark character like batman (totally true!) and never really wanted him. Thank God. i could totally see burton doing scarecrow, scarecrow is so much more of a tim burton bat villian then the one nolan did. he would have made scarecrow AWSOME and scary, and would have hired someone who REALLY embodied scarecrow and the insane look of the character, like jeff goldblum, who everyone agreed with when it was still a rumour.

Winona Ryder- Julie Madison
Johnny Depp- Scarecrow
Rene Russo- Dr Chase Meridian
Robin Williams- The Riddler
Billy Dee Williams- Two-Face
Christina Ricci- Batgirl
Helena Bonham Carter- Poison Ivy
Christopher Lee- Ra's Al Ghul
Marlon Wayans- Robin
Martin Short- Mad Hatter
Pierce Brosnan- Mr Freeze

I can't see anyone who could have played Bane though.

For starters, Burton wouldn't have gone beyond the third movie. I think a trilogy is all he had in mind. On the Returns DVD he said that he accepted the fact that this was gonna be an "on-going" but I doubt he would have directed beyond the third movie. He may have sticked around as producer with Denise Di Nova.

But, anyway, his Batman Forever would have been the same as Schumacher EXCEPT for the camp, neon, and what-not. Burton worked on the first draft of the sceenplay (confirmed on DVD) so that right there gives you an idea!

There's also an early storyboard for B89 floating around net

It's on the SE DVD!

Anyone got a link to that Burton first draft BF script mentioned above?

^ AH I'd wish that too.

My favourite aspect of the Burton's versions for Robin and Batgirl is that there wouldn't have been Robin and Batgirl at all.

If Burton had decided to do Robin, which I think he would have eventually done, it would have only been to play up the tragedy of his origin. And Robin would've been much darker.

I love how people seem to feel that if Robin gets introduced, he's an uncontrollable element that will never fit in with the film, like the filmmakers have no control over him....

The point is why to have an element whose essence is wrong for Batman? Being the case, it's much healthy to rule it out than to try to "change" or "control" it.

Because Robin is part of the Batman mythos. He needs to be represented.

And don't give me that "Batmite was at one time, too!" bull, I mean that Robin is part of the Batman tradition, the wide-spread, accepted segment of Batman. He's as integral to the Batman mythos as Commissioner Gordon or Alfred.

Nothing against Burton, but that Marlon Wayans depiction of Robin sounded terrible.

Not to say a black Robin wouldn't work...but overalls with an R stitched on them?

Nipples and Cod Piece aside, the Robin suit was done right in "Batman Forever."

CFE

And under the same perspective, so is Batmite. He had a animated version and all.

There's a long tradition of Robin's non-acceptation too. And it's winning in the big screen since it involves Burton and Nolan.

Yay for director's final decisions.

Yeah, it was terrible so they scrapped it. And Batman Returns was able to become dark and great like it was meant to be.

Are you aware that they were engaged at one point? The chances of these two working together again is VERY rare. This is also why Burton hasn't worked with Ryder in 17 yrs. He's loyal to Depp. Had Depp and Ryder never hooked up I'm sure Burton would still be working with Ryder. They had a pretty good working relationship. Heck, she dropped out of Godfather III to do Edward Scissorhands. In 1989 that sounded like a bad idea but in 1990 when both movies were released everyone realized that she made the right decision.

lol, it's just a fun thread using Burton regulars, like I know/care about their private lives.
