I would probably start off with a documentary style newsreel showing a bit of Cap fighting nazis, some newspaper articles and perhaps a bit from the Captain America animated film...

that one. Then finish with "but who was Captain America really? We zoom into his face then the credits start followed by the origin. The whole thing would sort of look like a matinee sort of thing.

So what do you think? I've heard the movie starts with modern day bookends? How would you do that?

I just hope they don't go for the cliche of the old guy sitting on a park bench thinking about Captain America and then the movie starts as his flashback.

My guess is the movie will start with him being found in the ice. Someone recounts his story, then we get him being thawed and waking up at the end.

The opening of Saving Private Ryan... BUT THERE IS A GUY IN BLUE SPRINTING ACROSS THE BATTLEFIELD!!

He takes out entire bunkers with a simple pistol and his shield. He dodges, slides, throws his shield at the gunners looking like a blur. The Nazi's freak out and retreat as we see cap take a breather, put the shield on his back and slowly walk forward. Camera shot from behind with thousands of allied soldiers cheering and running up behind him as a soft soulful version of say the US national anthem plays. Fade out... TITLE DROP!

For foreign countries there could be an extra subtitle, "Remember when America was cool?"

The rest of the movie should essentially be a period piece. Like a literal period piece as if they were making SPR and not a superhero movie. So far, that seems to be the case with some element of fantasy of course.

i'd start with
the explosion and him falling into the ocean
while he in voice over reads a note to probly Peggy i guess,
and as he plunges into the ocean we hear "i know we'll meet again, in this life or the next" just as he sinks into the darkness of the deep.

then the credits roll over the water and it either dissolves into a puddle in the 1940s or a shot of a submarine now, keeping the water motif

In my own movie, I'd start off with Hydra doing something really evil, then cut to pre-serum Cap.

But if the movie begins in the present, I don't know what I'd do. Maybe a kind of documentary beginning like Silvermoth said.

I would say the movie should open with him falling toward earth in tattered clothes as his voice over starts into a flashback which is the entire movie up to that point with him splashing into the ocean. He is then found by Fury as the movie ends.

I was thinking of something similar. They movie would start somewhere in the arctic. A SHIELD agent (Coulson) or someone would find his body and report to Fury that they located him. He is shown being transported to the SHIELD HQ, Agent Coulson questions who he is and what led to him being trapped in ice, from there Fury tells him that Cap was key player in WWII. Coulson doesnt believe him and swears that he was never mentioned in any type of history books and Fury informs Coulson that there was "more" to WWII than what was stated in history books. From there it goes backwards to the origin of Captain America

From IM2 it looks like Coulson already knows who Cap is (he certainly recognised the shield), so I imagine it would be someone else asking the questions if they go that route.

Also not sure about having Cap's war exploits so unknown. Would prefer his legend* to be very much public knowledge, just the full details of what he got up to and what happened to him that have remained secret.

*He can't be a 'living legend' if no-one knew about him before coming back.

How would I begin the movie? By sitting down in the theatre, watching the trailers and waiting for the opening credits to roll.:woot:

Weak Joke.

@Topic

For Opening Credits I d like to have some US Generals and Commanders in a Monitor Room having an heated debate on whats going on in the world (no voices can be heard, only some epic music) and a lot of slow-mo and filtering in the opening credits. I want the camera to dive into several screens in the monitor room during the opening sequence, for example zooming into the shape of france with a swastika on it, and then the camera pops out on a battlefield in France, maybe the Ardeche Fields.

Then back in the monitor room, cam is going to yet another screen, it s the ocean between France and Britain, we see an US flag on the screen, the cam zooms into the flag, and pops out on an United States submarine in front of the british coast in an desperate defend fight against an german submarine.

So they would use the opening to set the tone for the whole film and make the audiece clear that this film is taking place in a world having an all out war.

That scene at CC they showed with Weaving and the Nazis entering the castle in Norway. What a hell of a way to open a film.

I like the running idea of the movie opening with Fury interviewing soldiers who encountered Cap in the war, sorta like 'Band of Brothers'.

jump right into the middle section of the movie, then do some iron man like flashback

Seriously this is a no brainer.

Erskines escape from Nazi Germany.

Did any of that photage ever get leaked.... only heard the story never saw one image

I'd start the movie with Tony Stark sitting at Nick Fury's desk making small talk. Fury's assistant comes in and asks Stark if he wants anything and Stark asks for a scotch on the rocks.

At which point we see a flying Scotsman crash into the iceberg Rogers is frozen in.

We then see the Hulk at a drumset performing a rimshot.

Pretty much this, but then, I like flashbacks.

They will start in modern times with the finding of the body. You will see him through ice and zoom in on his face. After a title card saying "1942", the the camera will pan out on his eyes with the sound of a battle in the background. Only it won't be Cap on the battlefirld, but rather skinny Steve Rogers watching a war movie, or better yet a newsreel on the war. He will then go to a recruiting centre and be turned down, getting into a passioned argument with the recruiter. This will somehow lead to a follow up offer from the Project Rebirth guys and then the whole transformation. Somewhere in there we will be introduced to the Skull too, probably the scene from comic con.

After Erskin is killed, Project Rebirth will get shut down and Cap sent to Europe on a USO show with the spandex costume. He will hate it and take off AWOL to fight Nais/HYDRA. He will kick ass and motivate the troops (one of the EW pics shows him in army gear witht he blue top underneath surrounded by troops). This will lead to the new Ultimates-style costume and the Howard Stark shield. He will then go on a big mission against the Skull and everything will go to hell and he will get frozen in ice somehow (but thwart the Skull's plans first).

Cut back... to the future (ha ha) and frozen Cap. My guess is SHIELD will thaw him and let him know that due to the cosmic cube, the Skull has survived all these years. They need Cap to stop him again. Set up the final battle and a scene with Fury where he asks Cap to lead the Avengers.

If they do an after-credit scene, expect something about the Hulk.

(p.s. the is obviously all speculation on my part. I don't know anyone at Marvel or in the movie business. This is just how I think it will shake out based on past Marvel movies).

A formidable door with guards standing on either side opens. It opens in the center and the two panels slide into opposing walls. We see something akin to an operating or autopsy room tho very high tech in style thru the open door. The room is a buzz with the activity of white coated technicians, the constant beeping of monitoring equipment the only sounds. A 7' bolck of ice is on a table in the center of the room. Nick Fury strides out of the room. The door closes behind him as he advances down a milatary style corridor. Guards snap to attention as he passes. He approaches a door and after completing an exhaustive security panel regimen enters a room. The room is empty save for a chair, a lighted table, and file cabinets. Fury unlocks a cabinet draw, searches thru multiple files, pulls out a file, walks to the table, drops the file down on the table, and sits down. We see the file is old, sealed and says..."For Eyes Only". He cuts the seal and opens the file folder to reveal ......
(Any date) 1940

Pre-serum Stevesie getting his ass kicked by some bully, but refusing to back down.

I've always thought it should start Band of Brothers like and have Shield interviewing surviving veterans of WWII... getting detailed descriptions of Cap's exploits. They get to interviewing an old and weathered Peggy Carter and she recants the tale of Captain America... fade to flashbacks.

Cap falls into the water and is presumed dead...then we flash foward again.

Nick Fury or Coulston ask her to identify the body that they found in the Atlantic. They walk through the Shield facility to a scientific lab where Steve's body is laid out on a slab and technicians and scientists are buzzing around. Peggy walks in and sees Steve's body...she starts to tear up and tremble. "It's him. That's Steve Rogers." Some military types in the observation room immediately start to debate the merits of cutting him up for scientific research or keeping him intact and giving him the hero's burial he deserves. Peggy starts to break down when we hear a beep... then another... then another. One of the lab techs interupts the debate and says... "sirs... we umm... we have a pulse!"

We see Peggy's eyes open wide... Fade to black

It should start with the Red Skull and his quest to find the cube. Then the next scene would seem serious...but end up being the comical scene of Cap on stage hitting an actor dressed as Hitler and then backstage showing how he hates doing what he's doing and wants to do something more, something that means something.
