How would you create a new identity? Like, for real?

Something I was pondering today. Let's say you need to go into witness protection or something. But you don't go to the police. Or whatever, you just need to leave your old life behind, friends, family, etc. You also don't have that much money, so buying documents would be hard.

The movies make it look pretty easy. More like they gloss over it.

How would you do it? You can't get a job without ID, etc. How do you get those items? Remeber, you have no cash. This was a hasty restart.

Since I'm losing my identity anyways, I would first rob a store or a bank. Maybe lift a few wallets.

I'd firstly buy some dye and colored contacts. I'd cut my hair and dye it, and I'd stain my skin so it would be darker. Then, I'd go into the city and get fake documents.

I'd use a curling iron not only to change my hair, but also to burn my fingertips until my fingerprints weren't recognizable.

If your going to start your life over you need a fake i.d. It depends on who you pay to make it . If you go for cheap you will get a lousy idea and won't be able to cash checks if a teller is doing their job right. So that will be a hassle every week. The best idea is to be decent or have some experience in a trade , you could get a job doing that and be payed under the table. This all depends if your hiding .
I have little faith in the witness protection program . If you are in that good luck not being found.

I think you'd be surprised by how easy it is to get a job like that. Did you know that 25% of California's population is illegal (thereby also without identity)? You don't think they work?

You can just pay like 150 bucks to get your name changed with the government, at least with Canada. You could get that cash with a night of prostitution. Problem solved
