Sequels How would you plan a hard reboot if DOFP flops big time?

We have X-Men:APocalypse In the works and another wolverine and X-Force In planning stages.Maybe even deadpool.

Obviously everyone who posts here is very excited for DOFP and Apocaylpse. Fans just wanna talk about ideas, possibilities and what they want to see beyond. Nothing new, especially with this series. Better here then in the main thread.

Because they are the original cast, the series started/peaked with them and just like with other movie franchises out there. People would be more interested to seeing the cast that had the biggest success at the box-office, not spin-offs with unfamiliar faces.

With X-Men, its the original trilogy. Just compare the hype of The Wolverine/First Class/Origins to DOFP.

No he meant obsession with original comic lineup of cyclops,Marvel Girl,Beast,
Iceman,and Angel of the more proreboot people.Not the lineup from films.

Characters like Wolverine,Storm,Colossus,and Nightcrawler helped turn X_Men Into best selling comic book series

these are more likely contenders to be used for reboot

They may not use all of the above but that's likely the direction of lineup

This thread doesnt need reboot haters posting the same stuff over and over about Original Cast or FC one. This is about the reboot, and new ideas, if some users cant discuss about it, then this is not their thread.

I think Wolverine will be the most sketchy to recast eventually, so they may replace a character like Gambit with him till the series gets off its feet.

this entre thread Is ponetial hoping for DOFP to bomb.That has nothing to do
rather you want a reboot to happen.That's up for indivual member to like or not.

Now taking liking reboot or not out of discussion It's more likely they would draw on the lineup of Ultimate X-Men.If you want X-Men films to go over the way Avengers did that's what MS did draw from the ultimates except for ant-man and Wasp.That's the way marvel films from all studios are going.Drawing from ultimate versions.That's not a arguement that's a fact.

When X-Men is completly rebooted I don't see them leaving out their most popular member just becase some members of fan base are now anti-Wolverine.

Hopiong for DOFP to bomb Is like hoping age of ultron bombs In hope of getting a more 616 accurate avengers Instead of avengers with a lot of ultimates influence or Batman VS Superman bombing since some might want a solo direct man of steel sequel.

Re-Casting him is gonna be so damn hard. Jackman owns the role, like you said a better idea would be to find a new main X-Man to use in his pkace like Gambit or Cyke

If the X-Men movies ever rebooted I'd love for an X-Men line-up similar to the 90's animated show with the additions of Nightcrawler, Colossus, Shadowcat and maybe psylocke join the main line-up with guest appearances by other X-Men as the movie series progresses.

I'd love to see cyclops as a team leader, Storm is his outspoken second in command,(I love it in the comics when Storm challenges Cyclops' ideas, she and Logan are usually the only ones who does, though in recent comics Kitty and Beast have become more outspoken)

I would just love an X-Men movie to focus on the team dynamics. Show some tension and better handle the relationships of characters. I'd love for Kitty and Peter to be a couple and for Storm to get a love interest as well.

There's so much things I'd love to see that I can't be bothered to write right now but I do love this cast and hope this series ends on a high, on its own terms.

^ I agree, if and when they reboot it should be with the real First Class and not include Wolverine for a couple of movies. Focus on the five originals, with Cyclops as the main. Then, in like movie 3, when they get into difficulties, Xavier can recruit his international Uncanny X-Men.

So while the rebooted actual First Class is doing their thing Alpha Flight could get a movie, which could include a new actor as Wolverine. By doing it in Alpha Flight it would take the sting of Hugh not being Wolverine off a bit...

Yeah, especially after his last flick as Logan.

Thats part of the great thing about X-Men films too (unlike other solos) is they can focus on a different lead. A reboot of X-men with Logan and a new actor is just gonna get too much comparisons. Best to do something different, and it would be completely acceptable to the franchise. That will also give more impact later when Wolverine does show up.

If the film tanks at the box office, the studio should consider retiring the franchise for about ten years for a few reasons. (a) The film bombing would cost them a considerable investment: recent reports have put the budget at least $225 million, which does not reflect the final costs, nor the massive marketing campaign that they have been doing. (b) The comic book film industry exists within a bubble, and like the variant/limited run craze of the 1990's, its eventual burst is going to be painful, and probably going to confirm Spielberg's prediction of the collapse of the mega-blockbuster. (c) Considering the limited success of First Class, trying to recast or start with a new team is not the best business maneuver, in light of it and the above factors.

There are more fertile properties than the X-Men. If DOFP bombs, it is going to be the first domino in a long line of unrealistically expensive comic book films that will fail.

Would never happen. Fox has to make films or else they lose the rights. Longest Id say we would go without an X film of some sort would be 5 years.

In rare event of DOFP bombing fox likely has 7 years before rights would revert.And My thinking Is fox would have reboot out In 3 to 5 years.

If batman,Superman,and James Bond can be rebooted so can X-Men.I have no doudt wolverine would be part of reboot.Just like at this point I doudt MS will ever do an Avengers film without Iron Man.And you know Batman would be part of Justice league film assuming Batman Vs Superman Isn't Justice leaguet:
