Its a brief sci-fi idea I had. Basically I was partially inspired by the tonality of Hitchhikers Guide to a certain extent. This is a Childrens story based in a sci-fi world although it is somewhat layered and dark, heres just the basic premise:
Ugon (pronounced You-Gone) and Hugo, are each of the greatest galactic chefs/cooks currently. Ugon is a bug-like creature with octopus like tentacles and small tendrils emerging his head Hes small and very stout and quite fat but still an extremely great chef. Hugos background is that of a human but hes not from Earth. Hes a Martian-born Human as Earth has become a nearly unliveable place (on its way to becoming like Mars as we know it now).
These two chefs are NO team, they absolutely hate each other and for years and years media crews and all the forces possible have tried bringing these two together in some form of cook off or a show or somehow work together to bring food to a gastronomically delicious new level and bringing these two together would be a media historical event as they are some of the most popular celebrities in the entire galaxy. Each debonair, arrogant but brilliant chefs and masters of their craft, but they cannot STAND each other (Ill explain the background later but it deals with culinary differences).
However, there is a heavily armed armada of deadly dangerous pirates that threaten to destroy galactic peace, and these pirates have taken planets, prisoners and have also killed mercilessly in various sectors and threaten the very thread of safety and peace amongst the known planets. They are led by an unseen, almost wraithlike entity known as Laordin who is as psychotic, intelligent, brilliant and villainous as they come. His intent is to simply bring a new order to the known planets and this order would be him and his rules. Although no one has ever seen Laordin, rumors have it that he is almost trapezoid/diamond shaped but very diffuse as hes shaped like a gassy/smoke filled wraith and is larger than the two houses put together. As he gains in power, nothing can seem to stop him, except for the fact that he has a huge huge appetite and has a fine love for delicate and exquisite culinary specialties. He is quite the foodie and loves it almost as much as his entire army.
The federation council eventually decide to talk to Laordin and strike a deal with him which is as follows: The council promises that they will somehow feed him the greatest dish every created for any organism or creature in the entire galaxy and provided he enjoys it and feels it is the greatest food he has ever had, will retreat his forces and stay content among the few planets he has conquered and will actually rule them with a benevolence and generosity and freedom even greater than that allowed by the Federation Council currently.
The Council hail upon Ugon and Hugo to work together (although it is more done by trickery than anything else) as they con each one into thinking that he has been the specially chosen chef to create the piece de resistance, the ultimate masterwork of culinary dishes and feed it to Laordin to see if he is pleased. Ugon and Hugo must overcome their differences (humorous, nothing serious) and try to create the greatest dish possible for the sake of the galaxy. If the dish does NOT satisfy Laordin he will wage all out war. Will they or will they not succeed?
