Can't stand Ramos...it's just ugly. I do however like his appreciation for boobs.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Ramos. I'm a big fan of the non-typical superhero art and love the cartoony style. I especially love it when it's used on books that are more traditional superhero books, tends to add a different dimension to it.

I will say, though, a majority of artist who people love who are more "realistic" I find to be rather boring and not for me. Some I do love, Leo Manco's Hellblazer art is a top favorite of mine, but overall I'm more into folks like Ramos, Bachalo, Irving, Rossmo, Ward, Wood, Templesmith, Casanova, etc.

I can't vote in this poll because I don't think either option is valid. He's clearly not a bad artist. The man has a boatload of talent, which you can see if you've ever looked at his actual pencil art. I'm not at all a fan of the style he's chosen, but I don't think he's misjudged, either. He chose a style and he draws with that style. If people like it, great. If they don't, it's not out of any misjudgment or lack of understanding; he simply provides visuals that don't appeal to them.

As for me, personally, Ramos' art is enough to make me stop buying a comic. I really, really can't stand looking at his art at this point. Back in his JLA: World Without Grown-Ups/Crimson/etc. phase, I rather liked his cartoony style. It's progressed way past that, however, until it's now at the point of grotesque absurdity, which I don't enjoy in my superhero comics.

No, he's a bad artist. Cartoony is not another word for ****. McGuinness is cartoony. Ramos is ****. Also, Bachalo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ramos.

His art puts me off so bad. I just can't stand looking at it. If Marvel was using him for whymsical stuff like their Wizard of Oz minis with Skottie Young, I'd say yeah he'd do a good job, but when he's drawing Wolverine, Runaways, and other serious comics, no.

I don't like his style and I just don't think it has a place in superhero comics.

Context does count for a lot. I hated Skottie Young's art for a while, but now that he's smoothed his graffiti-inspired style down to a more cartoonish look and he's doing mostly humorous covers for Deadpool and the younger readers line, I love him. He had a '90s spoof cover for the issue of Amazing Spider-Man that Deadpool's going to be in that was simple yet hilarious.

He has a distinctive style that is not for everyone, but he is by no means a bad artist. I actually like his style a lot. I like his expressive Spider-Man eyes. I know some people griped about his work on that Goblin arc, but I think his style lends itself to Norman's insanity!

I reallly don't see how his style is bad. >_>

What bothers me most is that the poll seems to imply that cartooning isn't "real" art.

I found this via google. :) Well i do admit i'm not the biggest fan of his Wolverine design, but surely just because you can't draw 1 character can't mean he is overally awful/bad? I mean just look at how freaking badass his Venom is!

See?

Ramos does humorous image = Good

Ramos does serious images of Spider-Man fighting Venom or Wolverine about to stab a guy = His art seems out of place, weird, and just comes off as bad.

Ramos needs to do like Skottie Young and find a niche in humorous images and kid-friendly comics (Young's art in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was magnificent, but I'd be cussing out a blue line if that artwork showed up in Uncanny X-Men).

I actually think Lobo would be a good title for Ramos, over the top and humorously violent

His work is dreadful! Someone needs to keep him off the X books

While I like him, I'll agree those covers look atrocious

He should stick to surreal/trippy/comedy comics. I mean, his work on Wolverine for the Civil War was reeeeaaally out of place for the book at the time.

I don't mind that cartoony style. But for me, Skottie Young and Shawn Crystal have that style down pat.

Ironically, I considered Skottie Young a Ramos ripoff when he first started getting work at Marvel. Now I prefer his art to Ramos'.

I think Young's style is, I dunno how to describe it, more playful? More fun? His drawings do look really surreal and the proportions are usually out. But with Ramos, his characters look like they are in pain or melting or something.

I loved the few covers Young did in the last few issues of Cable and Deadpool.

I love Skottie Young's art. His work on Quest for Magik was simply beautiful

Young's more consistent, at the very least. With Ramos, you can never be sure that a character will even be shaped the same way from panel to panel.

I like his style, always have and always will.
