Hey... how you doin'?
So I'm not a HUGE music fan, but I thought of a game (in the vein of the ones that use to be huge at the Hype a good 7-10 years ago) that I thought you guys might like to participate in. So I thought I'd pop in here and see if there's any interest.
Here's the basic idea that's running through my head:
A certain number of players (depending on interest) would agree to play so that we have a set number. Each week, I will give out some sort of music category (ex. 80's hair bands, 90's solo artists, songs about death, anti-love songs, etc.). Everyone would have time to pick a song or music video (or anything of that nature) to be their entry. When time's up I would then present these options to either A) the public, or B) a panel of judges, and they would vote. The winning entry would get some sort of advantage the following week (2 entries?) and the agreed upon loser would be eliminated. If there is a tie, the people would have a Band Off where just the tied players would do it all again with a new category.
And we would do this until there is one winner... the first ever (and maybe only ever) Champion of Hype: Battle of the Bands!!!
Thoughts? I don't know if there'd be enough interest, but it'd be an easy game to play, give everyone some music to listen to/watch, and give everyone something to root for.
So what do you guys think? Anyone interested in playing? Judging? Any ideas on how to improve the game or make it more appealing?
