Both of the following bands had a large impact on music history worldwide. Not just in their genres but reaching out o listeners of variant tastes and perspectives. Hopefully, we can learn a lot about the music and the band as we look into which band, you feel is greater. A Battle of the Bands!

Rolling Stones

Most famous song: "(I can't get no) Satisfaction"

Aerosmith:

Which band do you choose?

aersomith was the red hot chili peppers of the 70's. i dont know why that makes sense to me, but it just does. and i dont mean that as a compliment. they suck. unlike the rolling stones, who are incredible.

Is this even a question?! The Rolling Stones are one of the greatest, most influential bands of all time, while Aerosmith just gave us a lot of karaoke.

I was going to put them against The Beatles, but I didn't know if that was fair.

Besides, this is all subjective anyway.

I guess in BotB2, I'll put the obvious winner (Stones) against the Beatles... 60's vs. 60's...

personal preference wise, i think i like more aerosmith songs than stones

fave stones song: get off of my cloud
fave aero song: janie's got a gun

I love Aerosmith, but The Rolling Stones are the best ****ing rock and roll band ever. And they put on an incredible live show.

The Rolling Stones are definitely the best.

Not much of a comparison when you take each band's history. The Stones are by far the more successful and influntial band.

Rolling Stones. Though, I like "Dream On" better than a majority of the Rolling Stones' stuff

The reason I think it's fair enough, despite the subjective nature of a contest....is the fact that the Rolling Stones have amazing talent, but they're not catchy in the mainstream. If you like "classic" rock, you might like them....

But if you listen to pop, rap, hip hop, trance....Almost any other genre. Then their significance is downplayed. I mean Run DMC was inspired by Aerosmith, not Rolling Stone.

how are the rolling stones NOT catchy in the mainstream?

For some reason, I have a feeling that the OP is not really familliar with either band aside from the songs beaten to death on the radio, because they say The Rolling Stones don't click with the mainstream is an unequivocally asinine statement.

Going from a purely commercial standpoint, The Rolling Stones have had FAR more Top 40 hits than Aerosmith, including about 20 that went Top 10 and 7 that went number one. Aerosmith cannot boast that. They had 1 song hit number one, and it's the most hated of their hits.

Honestly the same could be said about this very post. You're talking about statistics. Ask some of the younger people that you know, which band they like....When I did so, most people said Aerosmith. And when I asked kids at my college which band...It was about half.

Just because -you- personally like a band or because the band was heavily influential, does not mean that everyone likes them. I don't know how a subjective discussion can have asinine statements, unless someone involved is adding in their own personal biased. I'll reserve calling anyone a fanboy or girl, for anyone that starts making personal attacks on posters for having a different view.

Oh..wait.

EDIT:
And to top it all off, you're saying that your view is all commercial...not based on actual peer reaction. I believe the OP said "Which band do you choose?" not which band is the bigger commercial success.

i voted on my own personal preference. i like songs by both bands however

Between the two, I go with Aerosmith. THough I marvel at how anyone can say Mick's lips are big in a world where Steven Tyler exists.
