I knew I should have voted in this one.

LS, I've done the Hotties thread using the same principles as I do now.

You have people here for over 2 years with like .15 posts a day? I stand by my decision.

But again, post count does not determine activity.

I can see everyone who is active on this site--even those who are "invisible". And you know what I've observed? Some may not post often but they are here every damn day and know certain Hypesters just as well as those who converse publicly.

Case in point: In one Hero forum there was a female user who didn't say jack. EVER. And she was always "invisible" to her peers. But I'd see her in my little screen on a daily basis. Every. Damn. Day. She'd spend hours reading all the threads, voting on all the various polls, but still didn't say anything publicly. So naturally she surprised me when--after several months of zero participation--she decided to break her silence by PMing me with a concern she had about a certain problematic poster. I was shocked to learn that she was very well-versed in knowing every fricking personality in that forum. She had studied us--and our behavior--by reading our posts, arguments, etc. over the course of a year. A year Erz.

Now, if she was invited to a Deathmatch involving any of those posters, she'd be just as qualified to vote for them because she knows who they are--and well I might add--even though her post count is in the double digits.

But according to your standards, you'd disqualify her vote?

Listen sister, I disqualified votes in other matches previously. :cmad:

Votes were thrown out in the Superman79/SB battle right?

X-Chick, I'll gladly hand the win to Matt. I seriously can't compete if we're allowing posters who don't even post once a day. But to be fair, I have seen Erz disqualify votes in the other matches, Mmkay?

If you say it's "suddenly in this match votes get disqualified" you're just wrong, showing a clear Anti-Wilhelm bias.

That match was unimportant so I paid no attention to it. I've been known to post less than once a day, or once a month even, maybe you should disqualify my votes too. :cmad:

I already stated my reasoning for ComicbookKid. Like I said, there's a line. I allowed quite a few "newbies" with less posts than CBK that joined this very month.

And it's not like I just declared Wil the winner. It's a tie.

It has nothing to do with the results, I just don't understand how you can marginalize someone like that who is clearly an active poster. You said there has to be a line, I agree. But why is it an ACTIVE POSTER who posts ATLEAST once a day does not pass your standard?

... when will this madness end...

*waits for 300 joke*

Jumping jimminy.

Then why make this poll public and just let everybody's vote count? The reason I discount votes first and foremost is because I'm trying to discourage double voting from multiple posters.

I mean I could have so many "rules" for this, community posters only, posters with 1,000 posts or more but these have been the "rules" I have tried to stick since the beginning.

I'm not making these up as I go along.

Matt, you realize there's no money involved right?

But you still haven't established WHAT qualifies Comicbookkid for disqualification. I think that is what we are all trying to understand. You said active posters may vote, but it has been proven to you that he has been active for the better part of three months, so what we would all like to know is, why was his vote disqualified. That is all.

if you think about it makes perfect sense. This is supposed to be about poster's who's quality has been consistent over time. If you have awesome things to say about spider-man movies yet can barely string a sentence together on any other topic this goes against this

I'm not saying this is the case with you matt as you are clearly a very articulate and intelligent person.

Look at is this way, if you're spotting trends the most accurate result is gained by taking an rolling average throughout an entire population. By simply taking criteria based samples (like posters who only show up for a particular franchise) the results become skewed.

The Comicbook Kid ( Almost 8 months, 116 posts, 0.51 posts a day)

Like I said to me it seemed sketchy. You vouching for him doesn't really exonerate him in my eyes.

I could have also easily discounted Grinder, Hoban or J Jonah Jameson but I found them a lil more "legit".

Then why not call this Community Deathmatch? If that is the case than any of our "quality" as posters can be called into question. There is no subjective way to judge that criteria.

Also, by your logic, the only place that Wilhelm posts in Community, so doesn't he only show up for one thing and is therefore invalid?

Matt, you realize there's no money involved right?
lol

No, Dp...when you win a Death Match a lot of new doors open up to you. A limo arrives to take you to 7-11 and the cashier HAND coats each individual corn chip with chili and cheese when you get nachos, etc.

But you are completely ignoring his past 3 months of posting. Feel free to do a post search.

I think there should be a COMMUNITY VOTE for whether or not we should register the voters...

ERZ I nominate you to do the thing I just said... :o

Because it has nothing to do with community. For example what if wilhelm goes away for a month. One of your voters might decide to come back to the hype for that month only and therefore be prevented from experiencing the full glory that is wilhelm.

If you have posters who have been here month after month then they have at least had THE OPPORTUNITY to experience both posters
