Hype TV Club does "Nikita" in June

I lol'd, too, but then I ultimately ended up enjoying his character quite a bit. He was fun.

just finished episode 8&9 i think

i liked the one with the Senator and the Russian Spy more than the one with Michael/Nikita team up and flashbacks. Kinda sad to see Thom graduate though.

As for the flashback episode, it was kinda nice to see where Michael's motivation comes from, and what happened to his family. I now see more of how you guys said Alex is very naive and the like, however she was really clever in tricking Jaden and blackmailing her for help.

I forgot about her thing with Jaden in season one, but that's not what I was talking about. Alex's naivety is stuff that happens in season two. This stuff you're talking about is a far cry from things in season three. This show has so much go on that Alex being a recruit is like watching 70s Soul Train and comparing it to the 90s Soul Train.

dangit, i typed a really great response to this, and page froze and lost it

so i'll try to remember

basically i said something about how impulsively and sloppily alex is in helping nikita sometimes. like when thom caught her sneaking into the office, or when she knocked the medicine down in the med lab, forgot to exit a window on the doctor's computer, etc
not to mention nearly getting her wrist broken to get in there in the first place

she's gotta tighten up that jab man!

Well she is only 19, so she's all emotional and stuff. Her jab gets better as the show goes along.

Yeah, Alex is a pretty impulsive person. I think that's one bit of characterization that remains pretty consistent with her throughout the show. She definitely evolves and has quite an arc over the course of the show, but that aspect of her never really changes, imo.

I talked to Toonth last night on the Skype call, and apparently he's in the middle of season 2. I asked him why he isn't posting in the thread, and he is basically just lazy. These kids just ain't right. I just have to hang my head in shame.

For shame, Toonth! Did he at least tell you if he likes it?

Nikita: "Sean. Owen. Owen. Sean."
Sean: "Ya know, from what I heard I thought you'd be bigger."
Owen: "Really? I don't know what you'd look like because nobody ever talks about you."

toonth needs to get unlazy and post. these threads thrive on discussion and chat. if no one is posting about the shows, then what's the point :argh:

to date, the Game of Thrones one was the most popular thread length-wise, and i've pretty much enjoyed all the shows i've watched so far (missed Hemlock Grove) so i consider this a success, at least for me

Three seasons down, and only six episodes left. Looks like I might be pouring out some liquor for the homies tonight after I get off work. :csad:

my tv died, so if i'm going to watch this, i'm going to have to watch it on the computer :down

my tv resurrected itself for a moment, so i was able to watch 2 episodes today.

the last one i got to see was the one where Alex went on her first mission and turned in Nikita. I really enjoyed the dialogue between Amanda and Nikita. I know E-Man hates Amanda, but man, does she have the manipulation thing down pat. throw on some super white blonde hair, and she's Emma Frost minus the telepathy

also, the fight scene with Nikita vs recruits in the gym was pretty cool. like the use of props there Nikita

I just realized that Percy and Amanda are good examples of what Louis C.K. said about boys and girls. He said that boys **** things up while girls are ****ed up. This show illustrates that a ton. lol Percy is a straight forward guy that causes a lot of havoc. Everything he does basically boils down to him wanting to kill Nikita so that he can keep his power structure going. Amanda on the other hand doesn't just want to kill her. She wants to make her suffer a ton of mental anguish before she dies.

This is for the wonderful show that I just finished.

I gotta stop neglecting this thread. I'm early in season 2, really great show. I avoided it before because I thought it'd be some awful cheap show about a female who beat everyone all the time and just was terrible. Pleasantly surprised.

Yay Toonth! And yes, you need to stop neglecting this thread! I feel like your presumption about the show is quite common, unfortunately. I made the same presumptions at one point before I started noticing the good reviews it was getting. It being on The CW didn't help, honestly.

I'm early in S2 on my re-watch as well. And yeah, I have to agree with E-Man, Alex is worse in these early eps than I remember. Oh well, it helps knowing she gets better, lol.

Also, damn E-man! Seems like you finished those 4 seasons in record time. Did you ever notice an improvement in the fight scenes after S1?

im up to episode 15 now and the last few episodes had a pretty good flow to them. i really like the fight choreography and creativity in some of these fights

I do regret putting it off. And negleting the threads. Except last months, because the show from last month was awful.

The fights scenes were definitely better. In season one they have Nikita beating up people like she's Action Jackson or somebody huge. In the later seasons they had her use her speed and reflexes better to make some kind of sense of things. Same thing with Alex. When she and Sean [BLACKOUT]took out those Division agents protecting her mother[/BLACKOUT] she did it fast enough to where they were taken care of before they could really go blow for blow with her.

Funny thing too. I started watching that new Killjoys show on SyFy. The actor playing Roan is on there, and he seems like he could be a killer bounty hunter that actually has a few lines this time. When I first saw him I was thinking, "Run! He can't be bargained with. He can't be reasoned with!"

Glad you saw the same improvements I did. It was like night and day to me.

Is Killjoys any good? I liked the idea of it and meant to watch, but missed when it premiered.

I've only seen the first episode of Killjoys, but so far it's okay. There's some potential for it. You can tell that it was influenced a lot by Cowboy Bebop and Firefly. I plan on watching the next two episodes to see if things start to get better. It's not bad so far, but you know how pilots are when it comes to things.

So far I think this comes just under Fringe as my favorite show we've done.
