Hype TV Club does Fringe in January

on episode 19. looks like some of the things i've been noticing are possibly key clues to certain things going on in the show. go me.

i've noticed for a long time that olivia specialized in blacks and greys. now that we're learning about the kids who were tested in jacksonville, that seems to be something key to them too. such as nick the jumper, and susan pratt, who caught on fire.

here's an odd theory of mine;
we never seen William Bell, right? if we did i sure don't remember it. Walter Bishop and he worked together, and Walter doesn't remember some things. why do i feel like Bell is an AU version of Walter or something?

Nick the jumper called Olivia Olive. Maybe she's AU too?

I think, regardless of nature

Belle is behind everything. Or the Observer.

i think the observer is from another reality. at one time, i thought he was the future version of the kid they found down in the tunnel

i finished season 1 last night, not even realizing i was on the last episode of the season. i ended up really enjoying the show and since the month isn't over, and i know it's "extra credit", but i started season 2. man that first episode was crazy.

i keep wondering why Olivia doesn't ask her sister about their childhood and what she remembers. olivia is the older of the two right?

I finished the first season up this morning. Here's what I think about The Observer.

I don't think that he's an alternate reality version of that kid found underground. I think that he's one of many like them, and he's older now than what the kid is in this universe. Remember when the CIA agent was trying to take him away from the hospital? That guy mentioned that it looks like they found "another one" when referring to the kid, so there's got to be more like that kid. I think that they were probably experimented on and left in the dark underground to hone their supernatural senses. When the Observer first met Peter he was repeating everything that Peter said, so that means that they made some kind of connection similar to the kid and Olivia.

I enjoyed this season, although the ending was a bit weird. It seems that what happened in episode 20 should have been the ending based on Olivia [BLACKOUT]finally meeting William Bell.[/BLACKOUT] Instead they have that big moment to reveal [BLACKOUT]Spock[/BLACKOUT], and then follow it up with a routine episode to end the season.

What's crazy though is the revelation that
Peter is dead in this universe. Died as a kid, and Walter took him from another universe. That's both sad and ****ed up, and I see why Walter is the way he is sometimes. He was so distraught that he caused pain in another universe like his own. Maybe the Walter from the universe that lost "our" Peter found out about it, and he's not the lovable mental case that our Walter is. Think about this for a second. When Olivia was having those visions about killing people she might have visited another parallel dimension. During those times she could have been speaking to those people without realizing it. When Walter was asking her why she was killing those people he seemed cold as all hell. Maybe the Walter she was talking to was the Walter that lost Peter to our universe, and he came to be a mad scientist that takes joy in his vile experiments. Maybe that universe's Walter tested on Olivia in that universe, and he trained her to be this frigid assassin that is used by DFT, Massive Dynamic, or whoever to kill off threats.

Needless to say I'm going to dive into season 2 tonight when I get off. I'm very curious where they're going to take things next.

the reason i thought The Observer could be who i said it was, was due to the fact that they both could write, bald, pale skin, very faint or no eyebrows. it was a leap at best. also i thought he was telepathic when he was predicting Peter's speech?

So when Olivia was driving the car and swerved from the accident and missed the car, that was
in the alternate universe right? which makes the version where the car hits her having occurred in our universe.

my thoughts on Peter:
this version of Peter has horrible memories of his father. although we don't know for certain yet whether it's this reality's Walter or the other one. Peter described him early on as somewhat of a mean monster and didn't want anything to do with him when Olivia initially found him. Also, I never really paid attention to it, but Walter remembers lots of things from Peter's childhood that Peter doesn't. The way it's been portrayed on the show, I was just thinking that maybe Walter was remembering things wrong and it was partly due to his being in the asylum. Now I'm wondering if maybe Peter doesn't remember these things, like collecting coins, because they happened with the Peter who died.

i thought this was weird too. but i found this info online, so this might explain it

On October 1, 2008, Fringe received a full 22 episode season, this was later cut to 20 episodes, however 21 were produced. The 21st episode Unearthed was left unbroadcast for reasons never fully explained, but was aired instead (edited down for time) during the show's second season.

It's crazy watching this show and seeing John Noble play Walter brilliantly the way he does, and then watch Sleepy Hollow and seeing him play and entirely different character brilliantly in Henry Parrish. The dude is so money. I think he'd make an awesome M.O.D.O.K. in a Marvel movie. Imagine that voice emanating from a giant head with little legs. It would be the best thing Marvel has done to date. :awesome:

i've finished season 1, and i know e-man has too, so i'm bumping this for the others to chime in.

I like the whole ensemble cast. They all play really well off each other. Astrid and Walter have a great friendship/mentor type relationship, and i think she kinda reminds him of the intern who he lost in the fire.

This is probably my favorite scene of the whole series so far.

haha. everytime he starts talking about food i think of you

I just finished up season 2, and I knew something like that would happen.

So the alternate universe Olivia somehow switched sides with "our" Olivia, and now the main universe's Olive is imprisoned by Walternate. My guess is that our Olive escapes prison on her own some time in season 3 by figuring out a way to go back to her own universe. She has that power, but just doesn't know how to tap into it. Well when she is scared she can use her abilities better, and I bet she is scared as all hell now. I'm betting that it happens around episode 6 of season 3. Can't wait to see how they do all of this. This show has been pretty damn good.

this show is probably why i haven't been getting anything done lol. i've been binge watching usually 3-4 eps at a time.

i'm on ep 4 of season 3 and the alternate universe is pretty interesting. i want to learn more about the "quarantine" stuff, and i wish the other cortexiphan kids didn't burn out so soon. (see what i did there? lol)

So how far did y'all end up going with the show? I got to the end of season 3, so I've got two more seasons to go. I'll probably finish those this month in between Game of Thrones binges. I'm so glad that we watched this show. There was a bit of a lull for me when they spent so much time in the [BLACKOUT]alternate universe[/BLACKOUT], but I'm still anxious to see where they go.

I finished, but I forgot to post in here :(

Overall I liked it. Peter and Walter still my faves. Liv and Astrid too. I got a kick out of the [BLACKOUT]Alternate World[/BLACKOUT], but I have always really really enjoyed that stuff. And seeing [blackout]Noble do both versions of Walt[/blackout] was great. This show also introduced me to Seth Gabel who E-Man knows as a certain Witch Hunter.

Did you finish the whole series, Toonth? I want to make sure so I don't highlight the blacked out text in your post. If you did finish the whole thing in a month I gotta say that you got the juice now.

Yea, I did. I would decide to watch just a couple so I wast too far ahead. Ad then I ended up binging like a mother ducker.

And yes I said mother ducker.

edit: Though I tried to ommit what you shouldnt have seen yet [kinda blurs together when you watch enough at once.]

:applaud What movie that from? I may track her down and give'er a watch.

It's from Juice. An old "hood" movie starring Omar Epps and 2Pac way back when. It's full of urban flavor!

i finished the first 3 seasons, and will definitely finish watching the other 2 seasons when i have time.
the actors are this show are pretty solid and the chemistry and team dynamic doesn't feel forced at all. they all play off each other really well

RIP to Leonard Nimoy aka William Bell on Fringe (obviously iconically known as Spock)

Yeah. :csad: Since Firefly is so short I might just watch some old school Trek for the memories of his awesome performance.
