Any Hype members are welcome to join us in our viewing of these shows.
The Discussion Thread: http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=491461

The only rules are

  • Only shows on the list will be selected
  • Only the first season is required for the monthly viewing. If a show has multiple seasons
  • Each show on the generator has a minimum of 10 episodes per season, if not, we will watch S1&2
  • ALL spoilers must be tagged as such, as none of us have seen these shows before aka don't be a jerk
  • Any posts not following the spoiler rule as subject to Deletion

For the first month we're doing Fringe, and in this thread we will be talking about our viewing experiences with the show. You all are welcome to join, so we'll talk about what we like and/or dislike about the show we're watching.

So let's have us some Twin Peaks

What is Twin Peaks?
A crime drama mixed with healthy doses of the surreal, this series is about FBI Agent Dale Cooper, who travels to the small logging town of Twin Peaks to solve the murder of seemingly innocent high schooler Laura Palmer. Almost nothing is as it seems, however, and the show's sometimes eerie visuals, oddball characters and wild dream sequences drive the point home.

Here's a list of what should be skipped or not. :p

I was thinking about watching it last night but I ended up starting on Mr. Robot.

Damn, I just watched this not too long ago. Not sure I want to take the plunge again so soon. That's ok, I need a break from the binge-watching life after Farscape (which I may or may not be mildly obsessed with now), lol.

Looking forward to reading y'all's thoughts on Twin Peaks, though! It's veeeeery interesting. :D

I tried to watch the first episode this morning but kept falling asleep. I don't think that watching a slow burn show was a good idea at 2 in the morning, but I got some kind of understanding about things. I might watch it tonight if I don't get too caught up playing Injustice again.

i'm going to be out of town until monday night so i probably won't start it until then

I'm five episodes in, and this feels like a huge waste of time each episode. The mystery started off intriguing, but I feel like they're dragging their feet and being weird for the sake of being weird. These people don't feel like characters at all. They feel like people who do odd things. I'm at the point to where I really don't care who killed Laura Palmer now. Once I finish off these last five episodes of season one I'm going back to Farscape. I never liked David Lynch's stuff, but I figured this would be a bit different. Oh well, at least I tried.

It's definitely a niche taste kinda show. I'll be honest, I respect Twin Peaks more than I like it. It was groundbreaking for its time and I'm glad I watched it, as I did find it quite interesting, but I don't think I could say I really enjoyed it. It's not one I'll come back to a lot.

And yaassss, get back to Farscape E-Man. You've got some good stuff to go yet. That's one I see many re-watches of in my future. :D

I'm glad this show is only 8 episodes in the first season. I've got this show called Persons Unknown and Showtime's Sleeper Cell that are expiring in my Netflix queue soon, and I'd rather clear those out and get closer to finishing Farscape than deal with another long show.

i'm back in town so i plan on starting this soon. but it doesn't sound like i'm going to enjoy it lol

i lied apparently. i never got around to watching this show...

it still may have done better than Hemlock Grove
