Fudge proved incompetence simply to save face?
Good job :o

Well he was a dumbass. Probably the dumbest character in all of that universe behind Lockhart. No, I take that back. Lockhart could do one hell of a memory charm. All fudge ever did was wrongfully convict Black and allow Voldemort to rise to power. Its a shame he never showed back up in book 6&7. Id have liked to see him bite the big one.

That's the forth one, and by being chosen I believe Harry was bound by a contact spell. He had to compete or he'd die or something.

Once your name goes into the goblet you are magically bound to compete if it spits your name out. Its old magic and the age rules are new so in the goblets mind age is irrelevent. I dont think its ever outright stated, but its implied that a refusal to compete could result in death or some other unsavory consequence.
Isn't the goblet supposed to know who is underage and just spit their name out as soon as it goes in? And it should have been tamper proof if I recall correctly

Nice avvy, Spider-Aziz
Thanks :D

Azkaban's one of the best, if not the best film adaptation.
I like pretty much the whole Harry Potter series although the 1st doesn't do too much for me. Azkaban is the only one that gets on my overall favourite film list. As for adaptation quality I need to read all those books. Reading Dark Tower and ASOIAF at the moment (very slowly) so it'll have to wait a bit.

Nah the Goblet doesnt care about age. Dumbledore set up an age line around the Goblet but once youre through that you can drop anyone's name in. You could drop a baby's name in and the Goblet wouldnt care.

And, yes, Dumbledore thought it was tamper proof cause no one in the school was powerful enough to tamper with it except maybe Snape and Dumbledore trusted him. He never expected a dark wizard like Barty Crouch Jr. to infiltrate the school. Which isnt his fault, cause everyone thought Crouch Jr. was dead.

Well at the very least he could have just showed up then just forfeit the round. He'd still be there and have participated but didn't contribute. He could have just showed up at the dragon round, screamed "**** THAT ****!" and went back to the dorms for a nap.

Simple ploy, very clever
Did they refer to it or make new contests starting with year 6?

Rowling went out of her way to make Umbridge the most hateful ***** you want to murder. Then bad things happened to her by centaurs causing PTSD by the end of the book and you still don't feel bad for her.

Well they said it had been canceled years back and they wanted to try it again that year to see if it went okay for future events. It lead to the murder of a student and Voldemort coming back to life and full power. I'd say that failed in every aspect you could think of.

If im not mistaken, in the books you find out that the reason it was brought back is because Crouch Sr. was under the Imperious Curse and under Voldemort's control.

Still, the idea was sound until the bad guys messed it up.

I'd like to see a HP series where they use common sense.

Also, just googled Harry Potter Umbridge to check something and came across this article from cracked.com

The 5 Most Depraved Sex Scenes Implied by 'Harry Potter'

http://www.cracked.com/article_19397_the-5-most-depraved-sex-scenes-implied-by-harry-potter.html

It's hilarious and terrible at the same time.

:lmao: Rowling has a dark side.

About common sense in the harry potter universe, one has to wonder what magic has done to these people. They dont seem to focus on math or science at all and are very reliant on magic. I bet most wizards are pretty ditzy or logically impaired. Dumbledore is a rare exception.

I wish we had actually gotten to see the Quidditch World Cup match in the GoF film adaptation. :csad:

Dumbledore was so concerned for Harry in Goblet that he nearly strangled him.
