I attended the TCA's last night.....

I dunno if venom is telling the truth or not, I mean, this is the internet and anyone can say anything. I'm inclined to place it in the possible category, until proven one way or another.

I do think it's very possible for Tom to have seen SR. And honestly, the scenario I find very likely is for him to see it with Mike. They are friends, and I just think it would be an ideal and fun way for him to see it. I know that Mike has a "posse" of friends that he parties with, so a private viewing night with The Boyz makes sense to me. Can you imagine the comments?

"Oh, Tom.. your ass would have looked SO much better in those tights.."

I'm joking , but not completely.

I would love to fully believe Venom, Like Pat said he has been here for a while....I just have a hard time believing he was able to peg Tom down for that long.

If he could provide pictures, it would help...but I think those things are pretty security heavy...are they not Zing?

With all the rabid teenager females, I just don't see the general public having access to the actors/actresses backstage.

There was a million other celebrities there and at the afterparties......Just look at what happened at the premiere of the other flick. Lots of people got into those events, and there's plenty of pics to prove it.

JimJimBinks comes to mind over at BTN on that one. But how often do you see anyone get pic with Welling? It's fairly rare. He seems like more of a talk to you than take a picture with you kind of guy. I've met a few like that. It gives them a bit more sense of normalcy to do that....Unless its Jessica Biel, then you MUST provide pics.

It's just... I dunno, the complete antithesis of what I would expect him to say. Obviously, I don't know the guy from a hole in the wall, but I know what he HAS said in both printed and on-camera interviews in the past....

He won't even pick up a comic book for this same reason, and he's got TONS of Superman-related paraphernalia; people keep sending him stuff. He's said that when the show ends, he'll go through everything, but right now, he simply doesn't want to know. It will color his performance, and he ONLY wants to know what the writers tell him about the character. It makes a lot of sense given where Clark is at at this point and I think Tom's a smart actor for taking that approach.

So somebody please tell me, why on EARTH would Welling go to see "Superman Returns?" That completely baffles me. I can understand his interest and curiosity, but I would have thunk he'd wait to see THAT film till AFTER he finished SV.

Regardless of this being true or not I don't think it would hurt his approach if he saw the movie, even because they're separate entities. And I remember him saying last year, he was looking forward to seeing the movie.
NOW that doesn't mean he aproves of it or has liked it but he probably wanted to check it out anyway just as any Superman fan out there.
As far as the comic book knowledge I've also heard he now nows alot more about comics than he did when he started out. That may turn out to be false reporting but I did read an interview in which he quoted a comic in which Lex loses his hair in a fire and blames Supe for it.

You keep talking about box office numbers like it means something to me. I have nothing in stake with this movie so I could care less how well box office does. Though I do think they didn't think POTC would be such a big hit it was. Other then that SR did pretty well no better then if Welling was Superman himself. IMO
