Sequels I feel sad.

I loved SM 3.

You guys really think with all the money these movies have made, especially the last one, that Sony wont do another, lol? It hasnt even been a year yet since the last film was released. I expect an announcement by this year's San Diego Con...
Exactly, and besides, James Vanderbilt is already writing the script to the film.

Of course there's going to be a Spider-Man 4, but will it be with the same cast and director, most likely not?

I loved SM-3, especially since the Sandman & Venom were in it, even though that *****e Raimi didn't give Venom that much screentime.
It wasn't Raimi's fault dude. If you listen to the commentary Raimi talked about how there were scenes that he didn't know that were going to be in the movie or not. For example, the Gwen/Eddie house scene where he's outside her door, the ending, and the sandcastle scene with Sandy's daughter. And if you listened he also sounded like he wanted that sandcastle thing too ( Also where Eddie and Sandman confront each other)

Raimi gets too much of the blame for some of the things he didn't do.

Do you realize how ridiculous that is?

Raimi is the DIRECTOR of the film....how in the world does he not know what the finished product is going to be?

I find that awfully absurd and I do not believe that for a second.

I really did like Spider-Man 3, it's highly underrated. But it still surprises me alot of people didn't like this film.
Now they want to make a Spider-Man 4? I hear Raimi isn't coming back? Maybe not even the cast? Batman and Robin anyone?

No, don't go and say "well Spider-Man 3 was Batman Forever for ya" because it really wasn't. I watched that not too long ago and it was seriously no where close. Maybe in a certain way it was, but only in the way that it was some people liked it and some people didn't. But nothing other than that.

Anyway, back to Spider-Man 4. If they make this, who is worried it will just flat out fail? If there's no Raimi, and not even an original cast, it could very well be a Batman and Robin. I had a cool ass idea for Spidey 4 that involved Lizard and Scorpion as villains and they of course related to each other in some way. But come on, like they'll do my idea.:o

All I'm saying, without Raimi and the original cast, this movie is already going down hill. I thought Spider-Man 3 tied it all up real well, no reason for a sequel anytime soon. In quite a few years, yeah that may be cool. Just have a cool come back. I just hope if they do this, it's all good. Anyone else feel the same?

Oh, and tarded IMDB has it for "2009". Goodness.
Spider-Man 3 was Batman Forever in par with a decline in quality and an increase in unbelievability, no character background, and campy action and humor. No it wasn't as bad but compared with the BF trend, it is the same.

I am sad Raimi and co. probably aren't coming back as well but look at it this way...maybe the new people will take a hard look at it and turn this franchise back on track. You cannot say that this movie is going downhill without Raimi and co. b/c SM3 was a head downhill:o Dooming a film before it's production is crazy and stupid as a fan and movie go-er.

Plus, there was a great thread that pointed out the latest this movie could come out for Sony/Columbia to retain rights to Spider-Man and the latest is 2010 with an announcement that must come this year.

Raimi handed in a version of the film that was near 3 hours long and the studio told him to cut it down to appease the little kids. From where I am concerned, Raimi's original cut was probably better than the theatrical version we got. No it won't be a complete 180 to the thing we got in theatres, but I think it certainly would improve on Eddie and Mirko, which their background was truly lacking and it hurt the film.

Besides Venom, Raimi had near total creative control on the script and the scenes that were shot.

Yep

It's sort of hard to say. I mean, if Sam is directing a couple of films, then sadly, he most likely won't return.

Nah, I think Sam gets it, he just needs better plot ideas, and better lines for his actors to say. But he gets it. At least the stuff from the sixties.

What about the butler? wrapping it all up nice and neatly? PLEASE!

I loved Spidey 3
Hope Sam,Tobey,Kirsten,Bryce come back for the next Trilogy :woot:

What makes me sad is that this is the first time since Spider-Man came out and broke all the records that we dont have, for sure, a Spider-Man movie on it's way.
We WILL get Spidey 4...with the amount of money Spidey 3 made, Spidey 4 is inevitable.

What we don't know for sure is whether or not Sam, Tobey etc. will come back...Me personally, I'd like to see them come back for one more movie.

THEN recast for SM5 & 6.

Whats to be sad about??....Spider-man 3 SUCKED MAJOR ASS!!! But it made the most money out off the 3 so theres like a 95% chance that a sequel is in the works...and its Spider-man!!SM3 may have sucked but people are going to be anticipating the fourth one like crazy. I know I already am

The uncertainty as to what they'll do can be stressful. Still, I'm not about to defend Spider-Man 3. That film ranks lower for me than Fantastic Four and Elektra, and I hate saying that about a movie based on Spidey. The more they stray away from that film's formula, the better. If that means I don't get to see another Spidey film until 2012, that's alright with me. I'd rather have a great fourth film than the Marvel equivalent of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

That's a bit much. SM3 was not worse then Electra or F4. It really wasn't that bad of a movie, but people rip on it so much because it was highly disappointing. SM3 was an average Superhero movie, not the worst, but it definitely takes the award for most disappointing.

Now, in regards to Raimi not being on the project, I'm very happy about it. Raimi made good Spider-man movies, but he really failed to grasp certain dynamics of Peter Parker and Spider-man's character. I've never been a fan of how Raimi applied the campy humor to Peter, and he went overboard on it in SM3, which was one of the main complaints about the movie. I think it's time for him to move on and let someone else take a crack at it. Hopefully someone who gets the character of Peter Parker/Spider-man better.

Must I go on about how much Marvel likes to allow changes to their characters, especially in movie form, and they care not if you don't? Your best bet is that James Vanderbilt digs deep into the comics for his inspiration, writes the movie from an adult-oriented prospective and Marvel and Sony loves it. Without it being changed to fit their movie form mentality of selling toys to children.

Good luck with that.

I'm perfectly aware of what you said, and yes I hope that we get a good script, but while the script is what dictates the most how the characters will be portrayed, a good deal of it comes from directing. The first two SM movies had good scripts, but the goofy humor added into them was definitely Raimi's. I think the biggest reason Spider-man/Peter Parker were not portrayed as I hoped he would be was because of the way Raimi viewed the character.

I liked the goofy humor but there was several occasions where playing for laughs was not the way to go. Even in SM2, I laughed at the back injury joke but it seemed inappropriate.

That's Raimi's sense of humour... one of my fav directors!
