...And just go through, redoing the books, in chronological order, updated for the times. I'd love to see modern reworkings of Goldfinger and Dr. No eventually. I'm hoping they dont go the Brosnan movie route and do nothing but original stories, as they were nowhere near as good as most of the books plot lines.

I loved the way they did Casino Royale, I agree. They should build on this great foundation they layed out.

I'm not sure that's a great idea. Maybe use the plots from some of the books that already had movies made where the movie plot didn't follow the book plot. Don't recycle the title either, come up with an original title. I hope that made sense.

Its not gonna happen and there's no point in doing it either.

I hope 007 producers go with original title or story, all Fleming bond books are filmed or used as a title for the film and CR was the book they didn't film so now that's done. I hope they go with short stories Fleming wrote and writers can add their stuff on the script, I look forward to Bond 22 in November 7th 2008

there is a point...to do good movies that are actually more than Flemming books in name only (I'm looking at you, Moonraker :cmad: )

ive never read any of the books but ive seen most of the movies... worth my time? (regardless, I gotta finish the f-ing dark tower series first, as Ive been dragging my a$$ on that front)

Oh, most definitely. Though, if you're easily offended by olden-time racial stuff, they might not be for you. Say what you will about Fleming, he was a man of his time. Also, your best bet isn't the new copies; they run about thirteen dollars each. Just go get the old Signet copies for pennies to their dollar.

And, on your topic, Joker. It wouldn't work. The reason they did Casino Royale was that it hadn't been done before. It was the only book that hadn't been done before, by EON, I mean. They've done everything else, from Live and Let Die to The Living Daylights. Admittedly, the stories were changed, and radically, in some places, but there you are. Your best bet is for a movie kind of like "For Your Eyes Only," which took elements from the short story of the same name, and mixed it will elements from other Bond short stories like Risico and such. That would work with Craig's Bond, and could be distinctly Fleming-ian. But, I really can't see another film called Live and Let Die, or Moonraker coming out any time soon, much less any remakes from the Blofeld trilogy. Some Savalas fans would take that as sacrilegious!

Now, they could adapt the basic plot of the books, and change the title; like adapting Live and Let Die and calling it "The Undertaker's Wind" or something; this is an idea among Bond fans that could work in theory, but if executed wrong would be a major box office flub.

Yeah, but why would they remake Goldfinger for example? That movie is perfect the way it is!

It is tough to think about where to go know. I mean, all this one did was make it real compared to the dumb other ones. I can't think of a new story, but i'm not the writer. What was cool about this one was that it didn't involve some stupid weapon built to destroy the planet. They have to continue on with that.

But a lot of the books were adapted pretty closely to the original, and even improved on the source material. So yes, a modernised version of Moonraker would be nice, but there is no point remaking the classic Bond. They said it wasn't their intention anyway.

Indeed...

Goldfinger :cwink: :word:

Goldfinger is considered the best Bond film yet its not considered the best book. Interesting, huh?

LOL! But you gotta admit, Holly Goodhead was a hellova great name!

(Wait, what ever happened to the Hypette of the same name? Banned?)

Best name Bondgirl had was ***** Galore!

I think if they are gonna do any remakes, do a book that's ok to do in this day and age. Forget about Live and Let Die for example. That may have been ok in the 70's but now? Uh-uh

I totally agree with you here.

I think they could remake Live and Let Die, they'd just have to cut out all the Raceist stuff.

Wouldn't that be hard to do though, when all the villains are black?

There were black villains in Casino Royale, but nobody said that it was raceist. All they'ed have to do is make the bad guys black, cut all the talk about negroes out, and make the bad guys talk normally instead of the mumbo jumbo they do in the book.

Well, one of the little nice things about LALD is that the main villian, who is black, is intelligent, and quite evil. The dialogue for most of the other characters isn't mumbo jumbo. Hell, Stephen King does much the same thing with Dick 'O Halloran in The Shining, even more so. It's not so much that they're being represented as stupid, but that, to this certain writer, it's hard to represent what they thought was (and I'm going to get messaged on this, I know) "black dialect."

The book also has a scene that would be great if QT directed; namely the shootout with the guy in the fish warehouse. I forget the details, but it kicked. Extremely.

My two cents.

Goldfinger is considered the best Bond film yet its not considered the best book. Interesting, huh?

hi guys anyone notice Bond does not do anything in Goldfinger the movie? He is just an observer ... CIA does all the work and stops the atomic bomb. Only Bond does is send the message in Mr Solo's pocket to Felix but even that was not successful because the Solo was crushed and the message lost.
