I heard there wasn't one major thread for Bond films so wanted to make one.
Out of curiosity how would some of you rank them in order from worst to best assuming you have seen them all?

mine would be pretty much like this.. maybe a few minor adjustments if I re-watched all 22 which eventually soon enough I hope to do

22. Die Another Day- the worst, awful awful movie, they needed a reboot after this terrible movie, Halle Berry trying to outshine 007, Robot armor, invisible car, Ice palace, Bond being treated like crap from M16 and Madonna

21. A View To A Kill- Beachboys music plays when bond snowboards on a helicopter ski.... :( Roger Moore is 57... Grace Jones is way to muscular.. Roger Moore is 57!!! more like a view to a Bingo... What a silly movie though I like the scene where he is underwater and has to breath air from the car tires.

20. Octopussy- Roger Moore is still old & this movie is just boring....Bond dresses up as a clown...

19. Tomorrow Never Dies- Lame villain with a lame plot and yet another bleached blonde henchman.. I can't get over how lame the plot is, still some entertaining scenes. Michelle Yeow is bad ass and the theme song is great one of the better one after all the crap themes since moonraker.

18.The Man With The Golden Gun- Awful song, J.W Pepper RETURNS! :(.. cool villain none the less though. Oh and a really cool car jump ruined by goofy cartoon sounds. 1974... Im sure it was made for all the people smoking weed

17.Diamonds Are Forever- a silly movie and it followed OHMSS this is where Bond started getting into suits with bell bottoms... Willard Whyte is annoying and Blofeld is a joke compared to Telly Salvalas... Im sure Connery saw OHMSS and though "maybe I should do more that movie was good" then Im sure George Lazenby seen DAF and thought "Thank god I never starred in that" still its Bond so its entertaining...

16.Moonraker- alot like TSWLM but not as good and after bond goes to space it all goes to hell. still some good scenes like when they are on the gondola with Jaws and when Bond goes to shoot birds with Drax

15. License to Kill- Dalton with a personal vendetta stripped of his License to kill. seems a bit like a 80s action cop film but it is pretty good still, quite gritty,Talisa Soto is very attractive.

14. The World Is Not Enough- Brosnans second best.. I can't really say exactly why i like this film so much maybe cause I was so excited and skipped school for the first time (gr8) to go see it. Reminds me a bit of a less goofy moore film, Bond jumps out a window with a blinds cord...M gets a bigger role, Denise Richards makes a terrible nuclear physicist though she has nice boobs.

13. For Your Eyes Only- Bond visits his wifes grave, and back to earth on a smaller more humble adventure after blasting off to space in Moonraker much smaller than the last 2 films but thats what is good about it, some great scenes (The Ski-jump and cliff) music is a bit terrible during some scenes and Bibi is annoying as hell still a good movie though.

12. You Only Live Twice- Connery sadly feels a bit lazy in this one but its a pretty wicked movie still. Little Nelly is awesome, First meeting of Blofeld & Bond, The Inactive Volcano base, and Bond in Japan. I love the roof top fight scene where it pans out and we see Bond take out like 15 guys and Ninjas are in this one

11. Thunderball- a pretty good film, Connery, a Jetpack, Domino is hot, SPECTRE, some pretty good scenes, Only thing I don't like about this one is it drags on a bit and the underwater bits are a boring..

10. Live & Let Die- Blaxploitation... I know but still I really do like this movie, Moores first go and it is a bit silly. I hate J.W Pepper with a passion and when Bond steals Solitaires virginity it is classless and *****baggy but still I don't know what it is I like about this one, maybe it's he runs over crocodiles or maybe its the awesome theme song by Macca

9. Quantum Of Solace- Its no Casino Royale but I don't think its as bad as some people make it out to be.... though Dominic Greenes henchman is about 120 pounds with the worst haircut I've seen in a bond film. I like the way it pays homage to Goldfinger with the Fields dead on the bed covered in Oil & the Opera scene is wicked as well.

8. The Living Daylights- Dalton came in and thank god Moore was out him being 57 in A View To A Kill before this one, Dalton was darker, brooding and seemed like he actually had a license to kill rather then a license to just make jokes. Beginning was pretty cool too where you see the guy killing the double O agents on the cliff.

7. Goldeneye-Bond in the 90s and Pierce Brosnans best, the game made everyone love this film, 006 what a great villain, If one of Bonds rogues was to kill me Id want it to be Onatopp

6. The Spy Who Loved Me- The best introduction scene where he skiis off the cliff and the parachute opens also Moores best portrayel & script of his 7 films (a little less goofy then most of his). Jaws is great. Barbara Bach is amazingly beautiful as triple X(lucky Ringo),The submarine car, and the scene where the guy his holding bonds tie before he falls off the roof top is awesome.

5.Dr No- The first film and like From Russia With Love it feels alot more like a spy film. A bit slow moving and not as globe trotting as most, But I think when Connery Introduces himself at the casino at the beginning while lighting a cigarette. Just hearing him say "Bond James Bond" makes it one of the best for that alone. And Honey Ryder is very hot in with her knife & bikini.

4. Casino Royale- Craig proved lots of people wrong when he played 007 and shut everyone who thought he'd be terrible up. (Including me). After Die Another Day they needed to breathe new and realistic air back into the films and Craig ended up playing the role perfect for the 007 origin film. Back to basics.

3.Goldfinger- Most peoples favorite, it created the whole Bond film formula I feel like the movies after tried to imitate, The best car DB5, a wicked henchman Oddjob and great story, Bond bluffing his way out of death pretending to know about "Operation Grandslam" & again Connery.

2. On Her Majestys Secret Service- If it was Connery this would probably be my favorite. But then again Connery seemed to get lazier in the role after Thunderball and in Diamonds Are Forever he seemed like a washed up Elvis dragging his feet though the whole thing so who knows maybe George is what it needed..Great story, Best theme song, and the ending is great & different from the rest. The most moving film followed by Casino Royale. Also Telly Salvalas was the best Blofeld and George isn't at all that bad he just "wasn't Connery"

1. From Russia With Love- This actually feels like much more a spy film then a action hero movie. :) A bit slow moving at times but with style at least. After Goldfinger I feel the movies started to try emulating the formula. So this is my favorite and I think Connery is the best Bond and in this film he is at his best in the role. The hottest bond girl IMO....Oh and SPECTRE is introduced.

This is of course leaving out Never Say Never Again & the spoof Casino Royale

Yeah, I really, really love Octopussy. I fully understand I'm in the minority and accept that. I also accept that of Moore's films, For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Love Me were better in terms of storyline and acting.

But Octopussy has, for me, a great theme song, a performance by Moore that as good he ever was in the role, a kick-ass opening credits sequence, beautiful locales and one of my favorite Bond girls. So it ranks pretty highly for me.

fair enough I like Live and Let Die quite a bit, I feel like a racist saying that but the jazzy street performer funeral part and where bond goes in the club with Felix I love those parts.

I do like the guy with the yoyo blade in Octopussy and when he slides down the banister shooting those parts are great.

Judging the Bond actors I find very hard... I mean George could have been great given more films to develop... and really a lot of it is based off the scripts the actors had to work with.... I mean If Moore was cast before Connery before all the cartoonish jokes came in it might be a different story as well. and what if Connery had Moores films... He is younger than Moore..

Id go with this though even though It could change as I age

Connery
Craig
Dalton
Moore Brosnan and Lazenby are all about equal to me.

I mean Moore did do the most EON prodcutions films.. So he is a HUGE part of the films and comes to mind right behind Connery when I think Bond. Compared to someone like Lazenby.... Lazenby was in great shape physically and had the hardest job of all actors replacing Connery first. Though I love the film OHMSS. Brosnan had a good balance of Connery & Moore and was even a bit like Dalton in some ways (more so in Goldeneye). & Brosnan to me also was "my Bond" I the way that I was 10 when Goldeneye came out and it was really that movie/64 game that got me to go watch all the films. But being in Die Another Day really made me almost dislike everything about that movie... sadly even Pierce partially. Is till can't handle Halle Berry to this day cause of DAD... and Catwoman.

The BIG thing about Craig is he really doesn't look the part like the rest.

22. Diamonds Are Forever - Connery sleepwalks. Weakest Blofeld and Leiter. Girls are annoying. Only good action is the elevator fight. Doesn't fit in with either the 60s era or the Moore era.

21. Moonraker - Practically a parody. Fun to watch when drunk and with friends, but only in the sense it is so stupid its funny.

20. A View to a Kill - Walken is good, as is Macnee. Dull otherwise. Moore is too old and arguably the worst Bond girl in the series. Very by the numbers.

19. Die Another Day - Decent first half until Graves shows up and then it falls apart. Berry is annoying and the villain was better when he was Korean. The stuff in Iceland is almost as stupid as Moonraker.

18. The Man with the Golden Gun - Lee is one of my favourite Bond villains, but the girl is up there with the one in AVTAK and it just isn't very exciting.

17. The Living Daylights - Every film from this point on I actually do like. This is the weakest though with an awkward Afghan sequence and lame villains. I love the Gibraltor PTS, but the rest of the movie doesn't live up to it.

16. Quantum of Solace - The story is solid enough, but the action doesn't really work for me. It was like a poor man's version of the Bourne films.

15. Tomorrow Never Dies - I like the idea of an evil media mogul who is trying to start a war for ratings, kind of like a modern day Spanish-American War. It doesn't really get going until Paris Carver gets killed, but is pretty much non-stop action after that. I could have done without the Joe Don Baker cameo as he does nothing.

14. Live and Let Die - Of all the films, this one has probably aged the worst, but there is still enough in here to warrant this spot. Some great stunts in this with the boat chases in New Orleans and the alligator run, and Yaphet Kotto makes an effective villain. This really shouldn't work, but strangely it does.

13. The World is Not Enough - If Denise Richards wasn't in it, this would rank higher. Nearly everything else about it is great, but she is just so annoying whenever she is on screen that it ruins much of the second half of the film. This is Brosnan's best performance as Bond as well.

12. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - This might be the best of all if it only had Sean Connery in it. As it is the middle section is too tedious to allow it to be truly great. Once Bond escapes from the fortress though, this is fantastic right to the end. Too bad it isn't nearly as fun getting there.

11. Octopussy - This contains my absolute favourite Bond location as he goes off to exotic India. The plot is also one of the more realistic and entertaining as a smuggling ring leads to an attempt by a rogue Russian general who uses agents to set off a nuclear bomb in Germany and make it look like the fault of negligent Americans. I could do without the sillier elements, but this a pure fun romp. Extremely entertaining, just not quite at the level of TSWLM.

10. Dr. No - Connery's first go around back in simpler times. It does everything effectively, it was just surpassed by later installments. I can't deny its spot as a classic.

9. Licence to Kill - I liked Dalton's second turn much better than his first. This is Bond at his lowest. His best friend was nearly killed and his wife raped and murdered, he has been stripped of his 00 status and he is on the run and winds up in the employ of a sadistic drug lord where he can be discovered at any moment. Sanchez is a fantastic villain and I love that Q finally gets a chance to shine by taking part in a mission after 15 films.

8. You Only Live Twice - My second favourite setting as Bond goes to Japan and we get some absolutely gorgeous scenery. Donald Pleasance to me is still the definitive version of Blofeld.

7. For Your Eyes Only - Roger Moore can do a serious Bond film after all! The top seven I could watch at any time and have a good time. Many great moments throughout (the Cortina sequence, the keelhauling, the cliff climb) and I love the plot with two criminals playing Bond against their rival as the Soviets attempt to gain control of a British coding device.

6. Casino Royale - The re-invention of Bond for a new generation. Everyone knows the positives. The reason why it isn't higher is because it is too long at the end and I think Le Chiffre is a weak villain. Other than that it is spectacular.

5. Thunderball - Other than Goldfinger, this is probably the most famous Bond. This is SPECTRE at its peak and it shows. All pretence of this being a series of serious spy thrillers is dead by this point as it starts larger than life with Bond taking to air in a jetpack and involves SPECTRE holding the world at ransom with nuclear warheads. Many other films have tried to copy TB since with varying success. Worthy of a top 5 spot.

4. Goldeneye - Easily Brosnan's best film, even though I liked him personally better in TWINE. It showed that Bond did have a place in the post-Cold War world, and it was absolutely the right decision to have it take place in Russia.

3. From Russia with Love - If you are looking for a serious drama, this is the best of all. It also has one of my favourite all-time fight scenes, that being between Grant & Bond on the Orient Express. Unfortunately, like Casino Royale it suffers a bit from ending fatigue.

2. The Spy Who Loved Me - This is the best in absurd, escapist entertainment and the proof that camp does work. Bond doesn't get cooler than in this film, which comes close to going overboard but never quite gets there and as a result is the second best film in the franchise.

1. Goldfinger - This film pretty much defined the franchise. Filled with great moments from start to finish. Even people who have never seen it know of stuff like the murder by gold, the title song, Oddjob and the laser table. One thing I like about this one is that despite being the prototype for every film following it, it strips Bond of all his cool toys just after the halfway point and he has to get by for the rest of the movie only using his wits. A great Bond girl, the best villain, the best henchman, and the best Bond in Sean Connery combine to make not only the best Bond film, but one of the best films of all-time, period.

good rationales, we differ but some really good points, especially Moonraker being fun to watch drunk hah.

My Top 10:

10. License to Kill
9. Live And Let Die
8.Thunderball
7. The Spy Who Loved Me
6. Dr. No
5. Casino Royale
4. Goldfinger
3. The Living Daylights
2. Goldeneye
1. From Russia With Love

I think Russia With Love was very lo-tech but the most compelling.

I also love Casino Royale.

Thats why I love From Russia with Love the Best. It was before the outrageous looking villains and gadgets. It was before a lot of the Bonds elements kicked in. I'm not saying that the Bond elements are a bad thing. I love it, but From Russia With Love stands out because of it while being an excellent sequel to Dr. No.

Im not sure I went through a few pages but couldn't find one... :csad:

I was thinking about finally sitting my ass down and watch all of the Bond films. Is there a specific order I should watch them in even though most don't mention other films.

I've only seen Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace the one with Christopher Walken and a few minutes here and there of some other ones.

It's been so long since I've seen most of the movies, so I'll just list off my favorite film from each Bond. They're also some of my favorite Bond films.

Connery - Goldfinger
Moore - The Spy Who Loved Me
Brosnan - Goldeneye
Craig - Casino Royale

Never really cared much for Lazenby. I liked both of Dalton's Bond films fine, but neither of them are anywhere near my Top 5.

I think the only ones I've seen from beginning to end are Goldfinger, The World is Not Enough, Die Another Day, and Casino Royale.

I am one of those people who has caught Bond films on tv over the years, but has never been an outright fan, i have enjoyed them a lot here and there though.
The Craig Casino Royale was the best one yet out of all of them imo, after that I would say Goldfinger.

I got to see GF at an outdoor film festival a couple of years ago, a newly restored print and the woman who was painted in gold got up and did a Q&A before the film began.

so the only ones i have seen at the pics are Gf, View to a kill, Casino Royale, and Quantum of Solace.

I watched The Spy who loved me from beginning to end for the 1st time last weekend when it was on tv, i had caught it before but not all of it. Very enjoyable, Moore certainly likes fighting on the trains, just like with the guy from Live and Let die, another Bind flick i watched in full recently on tv.
I had saw that one when i was a kid, and it was indelibly printed on my brain, i loved it, and got a big kick out of seeing it again.

Quantum of Solace is alright i think, it's actually pretty good, just not as in depth as CR, and more of a supplement to that movie, but i think it's a lot better than most of them.

the best Brosnan one i think is 'Tomorrow Never Dies', I saw Golden Eye once and was not impressed by it, but i would like to see it again to see if i was being too hard on it.
The World was not enough was sounding like it would be a classic, but, it was merely ok, RC's villan did not feature in it as much as he should have.
die another Day is just pure crap, the only bit i liked was when he came out of prison at teh beginning with a big wild man/billy connoley beard.

I have not see The living Daylights since it first came out on video, so cannot really comment on that, at the time i found it a bit boring.
Licence to Kill though, hoo boy, that one is a bit cheap and cheeseball feeling, it was an alright watch, but by gum it is the Bond film that most feels like a tasteless direct to video film.

I saw some of OHMSS, but did not pay much attention to it as i had missed the beginning, Lazenby seemed a bit flat and uninteresting as a Bond. Maybe if he had some gizmos firing out of his kilt it would have been the more memorable performance.

Of the connery's, i have either not seen many, or do not recall them. Gf, great, but , Thunderball, my god, i would have to say that was the most boring Bond film i have ever seen. I watched that at someone's house, a captive audience, I'm pretty sure i was drinking too, and it totally killed my buzz.

massive fan of the books - sporadically seen the movies over the years

not really enjoyed the older ones as much as the last 2, due to faithfulness to the source material

need to see from Russia with Love over again, also wouldn't mind watching on her majesty's secret service over again as a refresher.

But yeah right now I have to say that casino royale is my favorite. I know that makes me sound young but I just enjoy the flick to damn much.

I like Connery but Dr. No and Goldfinger just don't do it for me. Russia though i believe was the better of his films.

and i want another film with Craig dammit.

WOW!

I don't like ANY of the Connery films beside Dr.No and Goldfinger

My Bond top films(in no particular order) are:

Live and Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
Octopussy
A View To A Kill
Goldeneye
Casino Royale
Tomorrow Never Dies
