This is really sad that I went and looked this up, but it's been bothering us too - Max & Ruby is one of our 2 yr olds fave shows. Apparently "Max and Ruby do have parents but the show was intended to focus on what the two young bunnies are up to when the parents are not present. Be assured that the parents are safely near by they just don't make an appearance in the show. The creators just wanted to center the show on the relationship between the two bunny siblings."....so there we have it!

OK, so I was curious so I checked out the Nick Jr. website.

Here's what Rosemary Wells, said the reason was for not having parents appear on Max and Ruby:
"As in most other classic stories, we don't see Max and Ruby's parents, because I believe that kids resolve their issues and conflicts differently when they are on their own."
Max and Ruby are based on her own children and the point of the series is to show positive conflict resolution.
