“Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe) is a teenage girl who escapes the realities of school and a troubled family life by retreating into her magical world of fighting evil giants. With the help of her new friend Sophia (Sydney Wade) and her school counselor (Zoe Saldana), Barbara learns to face her fears and battle the giants that threaten her world.”

Looks way more interesting than A Wrinkle in Time.

It does look better than AWIT.

That said, not being familiar with the graphic novel I get a strong whiff of BRIDGE TO TERABITHEA or however it's spelled. If so that could hurt this film. Bridge s not a horrible film, not the greatest but it was different. But the bait and switch nature of the trailers as compared to the actual film hurt it. I would be fine if this was how it played out here but if that is the case... maybe don't sell a film, especially to a younger audience as one thing only for it to be another.

Also... Nice seeing Zoe do something other than Sci Fi.

Looks almost like a good companion piece to all those kid fantasy movies we've had 2 years ago. The lead girl's acting is however throwing me off.

Reminds me of A Monster Calls

Yep, same deal here. I'm not a big fan of Joe Kelly's to begin with, but to find out this is another one of those "pretend" fantasy films guarantees I won't be watching. I'm still interested in hearing Laurent Perez del Mar's score, though (he did The Red Turtle).
