Not the same without Steve....how I can I enjoy "when the light go down on the city" with that new guy.

I saw the *real* Journey at Constitution Hall back in 1993. THAT was a rockin' show. This new "Steve" guy (forget his last name) is a wannabe.

Not completely related, but this is the closest thread I could find. I saw Keanu Reeves yesterday eating lunch near where I work.

Did you ask him if he could autograph my copy of "Brotherhood of Justice?"

I know what you guys mean I miss steve too. He quit because his guitar Bassist died in a car accident. He couldn't go on.

That and his voice just couldn't keep up. In 1993, he sounded AWESOME, but you could tell even then that he was losing some of his range and power.

Damn shame 2:csad:

Actually, Steve Augeri fried his voice just as bad as Steve Perry did. Jeff Scott Soto has been singing with them for a few months, now, in his place. I think they still intend to bring Steve Augeri back when he's recovered. I, too, miss the old days of the original line-up. I saw them in I think '84 when they were touring in support of Frontiers. Now THAT was a show!

That's "Cit-TaY".

I dont stop believing that Steve Perry will be back one day.

My cousin is great friends with Steve Augerie, the new guy. He sees him like every week. He does a damn good job filling Perry's shoes. Plus he's not a complete *****ebag like Perry was said to be.

Anyway, it's cool that you got to see them. Journey were fun back in the day. They weren't geniuses, but they knew how to make a damn catchy rock single.

You better stop believing. Schon and Valory express nothing but contempt towards Perry, and it will be a long time before we see him onstage with them ever again, if it ever happens.

Anyone remember the old 'Journey' game on Atari?

Augeri isn't with Journey anymore. He burnt his voice out. Jeff Scott Soto is singing with them right now. If Augeri gets his voice back, they'll probably welcome him back, as Soto's got his own musical endeavors anyway.

At any rate, the musicianship in Journey has always been astounding. Steve Smith was and is one of the highest regarded rock and jazz drummers in the world. Schon's guitar chops are very well respected. Jonathan Cain and Greg Rollie are both amazing keyboard players. Vallory's a hell of a bass player. Back in their heyday, they were considered one of the elite groups because of their musicianship.

Yes, my cousin told me about Steve's voice issues. He says he working to get them back.

And yes, the musicians are fantastic. Musically, I find the guys pretty underrated. While the stuff they did wasn't groundbreaking, the guys' craftsmanship and creative energy was still very high quality, even 90 % of their best work can be found in the confines of a greatest hits compilation.

I don't know. At the time they came out, no one was really playing the kind of stuff they were, so I'd say they were somewhat groundbreaking back in the day. They quickly got copied by also-rans like Survivor, though, which kind of dilluted their uniqueness.
