looks like we've seen the last of May...

Rating: RATED A AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #543
The Story: One bullet changed everything for Peter Parker. The black-clad Spider-Man has battered his way to the man who gave the kill order -- Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin. At his darkest hour, will Peter cross the line he swore he’d never cross? You won’t believe your eyes, True Believer.

-or.. looks like peter kills someone

Not exactly surprising. I don't know why JMS didn't just have May die right off the bat.

Meh, I cared more when she was actually shot.
Actually, I cared a lot more the first time she was killed... when it actually seemed to mean something to me.

this has just been dragged out, we all knew it was going to happen.
I wouldn't actually mind seeing Peter kill someone in rage, like, not intentionally, and then go a bit crazy when he realises that this time it was actually all his fault.

i just hope MJ doesn't die during this "one more day" arch...

but i have a feeling what will happen will be...
-Peter kills someone in a fit of rage
-Aunt May ends up dying
-Peter doesn't know what he's becoming or who he is anymore
-MJ and peter talk about splitting

This just lacks a certain punch considering Aunt May's already died once.

Exactly. Her last death about 12 or so years ago was more poignant and whatnot, and this one is naturally more violent. But it is the same character.

This is about 3 months down the line (longer if there are delays), so I will wait until I read it. There could be a twist. Maybe it is MJ and JMS decides he wants Joe Q's "End the Parker Marriage" bonus for a new car or something. Because if the last NJF's proved one thing, it is that Joe Q still would love nothing more than to find some way to get Peter single again. Granted, MJ doesn't have to die for that to happen.

Hopefully, about the "crossing the line" segment, I hope the ramifications of anything Peter attempts are fleshed, and not just used as a throwaway, as when he tried to kill Norman after Ben Rielly got whacked and nothing was made of that blatent homicide attempt. No personal introspective, no shock from MJ or any of his cast, nada. Just a waste.

The initial part of this story admittedly has seemed better than the CW stuff because I can imagine Peter going on a vendetta to avenge his beloved Aunt. But I am growing weary of the whole "darkdeathangstrape-train" motif in a lot of comics just as much as I am weary of events.

Thank heaven for Jeff Parker's FF/SPIDER-MAN. ;)

im just hoping that Joey Q's last quote on MJ and Peter remains true... "divorcing or widowing, or annulling the marriage...would only be worse.(than them still being married)."

I sooo still see something bad happening to MJ instead of may.

I can now say that They probably should not have brought may back, But I'm glad they did as it took JMS to get me to like the Character.

yeah, JMS actually made may worth it... she really was just a bumbling old coot who was a plot device of peters angst and really just a burden.. i mean her greatest story before her death was getting sick and later marrying ock.... since then she's had alot of heart, been given character, and actually been not only interesting, but been quite funny in moments.. (love her and peter's trip to the airport and May explaining peter's web shooters to the security)

The big thing is, they cant kill mj, if they somehow do, then that's it for peter's love life. It's over. Peter'll never fall in love with another woman again. If he somehow did fall for someone else, it wouldnt be credible at all considering MJ's been around for soooo long and become a staple part of spider-man's mythos. Marvel's put too much work into this marriage to destroy it. Trust me, they can't get rid of MJ. IT would be like getting rid of J Jonah Jameson.

very true... MJ is golden... but then again.. im pretty sure everyone though Betty Ross was golden as well

Once again, Quesada gets the best of you guys. It's misdirection. May's not going to die, and that's not her on the slab. It could be anybody. Hell, it could be Steve Rogers. More likely, it's the sniper, or someone else directly involved with May's shooting.

This is story about morals, not about death. It's a "will he or won't he" tale, not a "death of Aunt May" saga. Been there, done that.

Most of you guys have been reading Marvel books long enough to know how the solicit and hype machines work.

PJ is on the money. I'll go out on a limb and say that May doesn't die and nothing happens to MJ.

So long as the answer winds up being "he won't," I don't much care. If Peter starts killing people, I'll be annoyed. He's the last bastion of moral fortitude in Marvel's comics.

What about breaking some kneecaps?

While it would interesting to see the ramifications of Peter actually murdering someone, it's definitely NOT worth it in the long run. People think Hank Pym's been tarnished. If Peter follows through with his plans, we ain't seen tarnished yet.

Peter's one accidental killing still annoys me. If he intentionally murders someone, I think I'm giving up on him completely. His comics aren't even that good right now anyway.

Are you talking about Gwen?

No, there was some chick Peter accidentally killed while fighting Wolverine in one of their crossovers. I think he accidentally hit her and she died from the blow.

Huh. I wasn't aware of that. Sounds like early to mid 90's to me...

She wanted him to kill her. Which sucks because she could have had Wolvie do it. He name was Charlie BTW.

Marvel Adventures Spider-Man is tight!

1986, actually. Still part of the grim-n'-gritty era.

That's right. I just read a synopsis of it and basically the chick, Charlie, was betrayed by the KGB and she decided to kill all of her former comrades before they could kill her. She does so while Wolverine and Spider-Man chase her. They all wind up in a cemetery in the end and Charlie wants Wolverine to kill her, but Spider-Man intervenes. Wolverine and Spidey fight, a helicopter's searchlight blinds them, and when a hand comes down on Spider-Man, he lashes out thinking it's Wolverine, but it turns out to be Charlie. Pretty lame all around.

Remember the days when people hated the 616 SPidey titles and they would go, "At least we have Ultimate!" Marvel Adventures is our last refuge. The Helms Deep of SPider-Man titles.:csad:
