I think Supes is immortal

I think Supes is a DC character ;) moving...

and Superman's immortality has been suggested many times before, more notably in DC: 1 Million. While other works, like Kingdom Come, suggest that he will indeed age and died someday.

Interestingly 1 Million was continuity sort of. The Kingdom Universe started as an Elseworlds, KC was elseworlds and then The Kingdom introduced Hypertime. I believe Hyper time is no longer used. The scan in the thread starter is continuity.

It was very much hinted in Smallville aswell ..... Does this mean all Kryptoninans are immortal ? I await Conners return !!!!!!! :)

I honestly don't think Kryptonians are immortal. Maybe the effects of our sun can increase their life expectancy, but I don't think they're actually immortal.

I think they can outlive the Sun and move on to another as is shown in the Flash.

Well he can't be killed (as seen in the 90's) and he lives for another billion years (according to that scan ). He seems to have some derivative of immortality. :)

He can be killed. Using the death of Superman as an example of him being unable to die is a bad example because he did die. He was resurected, but he still died in the first place. Either way, while it seemed quite likely that, due to his high resistance to injury and (I assume) disease, he will probably outlive alot of people. But that doesn't make him immortal. If he can be killed in any way, he's not technically immortal.

he never died, he was burned out...that explains the longer hair when he came back like he was in a coma.

and where is that from? the black flash, that looks sweet

He wasn't in a coma. He died. His organs ceaced to function. His body went cold. Whatever energy it is that animates life forms and makes them sentient went bye bye. Rigor mortis set in. He was a corpse, through and through. And then he was resurected.

The Black Flash is an aspect of Death. I'm assuming that it's simply how speedster's veiw Death, since in Sandman, Death looked and acted quite different.

what ever, he wasnt dead though, his body was in hybernation mode

and for the black flash i mean what issue numbers

Sounds like you described Jesus, because i remember they couldnt do an autopsy on superman or cut him open, i may be wrong its been a while

You don't need to preform an autopsy to know when rigor mortis has set in. You don't need to preform an autopry to know that someone hasn't been breathing and hasn't had a heartbeat for the better part of a week. And you don't need to preform an autopsy to know when a dead guy's gone cold.

No, he wasn't hybernating. He was dead. He was no more. He had ceased to be. He'd expired and gone to meet his maker. He was a late Superman. He was a stiff. Bereft of life, he rested in peace. If he hadn't been put under a statue, he would have been pushing up the daisies. He'd rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. He was an ex-Superman. And then he was resurected.

Superman was killed in Obsidian Age. The JLA found his corpse a few thousand years later. That's pretty dead.

duh all the kryptonions pretty much died cept a few wouldn't that suggest that all of them are mortal

:doom: :doom: :doom: :doom: :doom:

;)

Since the One Million stuff does indeed look like it's in continuity, I imagine Superman survived for a few billion years through sun hibernations. He has a very long life expectancy thanks to the yellow sun radiation, then he survived 800,000 years into the future with just one such hibernation. Doesn't seem like a stretch to see him doing that indefinitely. The sun would be kind of like Supes' personal Lazarus Pit, if you think about it.

True. Still, a long lifespan doesn't technically make one immortal. It simply means that the person in question is quite old. But they could still be capable of dying.

Yeah, I don't think it's a question of immortality. Supes is definitely not immortal. I just thought that would be a logical, in-continuity way for Superman to survive for billions of years.

he's a mortal, except he ages slower when exposed to the yellow sun

i think? i mean if thats okay with the question that is

What should that have to do with weather or not I'm okay with it?

Anyway, I don't think that's entirely acurate. The fact that he grew from a baby to adulthood in a normal amount of time means he ages as quickly as we do. It's just that, because of his durability, any negative effects that the aging process has on one's health are considerably less with him.

It's possible that he just advances to maturity quickly and stays at that general state for a while.

...Are you okay with that?

not if he ****in lives in the sun...that was my point

i mean if thats okay with you, sir
