IDE to SATA

Yes, you can get converters like the one you linked to. However, I've never done it...so I honestly don't know how well it will work. Good Luck!!
 
Is the IDE one a master or a Slave (does it have windows on it) Same goes for the 80g SATA one you have Does it have windows on it?

Because you could always use one as a slave transfer all you data onto that (pics and what not) then put in the new 500g one (with windows on) and transfer it back.

The connector you linked just seems to be so you can connect a IDE hard drive to a mother board that doesnt support IDE not transfer stuff about
