If Ben is to be in the film - sheesh, he's getting on! 43! Indications for story?

Of course, Affleck is in the prime of his career as an actor, director and writing, directing and acting in ARGO, Gone Girl, and the looming release of Dawn of Justice will only really have a mark on Affleck's career as an actor - he'll be able to show a side to Batman that we've either never seen before, or re-familiarize ourselves with a previous portrayal.

However, point is, Affleck has already turned 43 this year and, with all due respect, we don't know when principal photography will commence.

Of course, DC Comics said it'll be sometime between 2016-2020:

So, the real indications are various in regards to Affleck's age. Like, storywise, I think that the upcoming movies will chronicle The Dark Knight Strikes Again.

ONLY
because Batman vs. Superman borrows ideas from The Dark Knight Returns - my foresight can't really be warranted because the film could conclude in any way. It can be about anything and if there's to be an independent Batman film, if Affleck is to star in it, I think his age should determine whether or not the next film will or won't be an antecedent.

But, again, I don't know. Affleck looks great and all for his age, I'll admit that. But he's getting on.

Thoughts? :)

Good thing Batman wears a mask, making it ridiculously easy to use stunt doubles.

It's all on Affleck whether he wants to stay in shape for the role, and keep doing batman,

today its October 2015, in about a month and a half it will be 2016. Lets say Affleck's Batman movie comes out in 2018 as a lot of people speculate, that's two years away. He'll be around 45 years old. Now lets say WB follows the pattern of making one Batman movie every 3 years with JL movies/other cameos in between. Ben Affleck would be 48 in a Batman 2, and 51 in a Batman 3. Completing a trilogy of Batman movies.

Look at Tom Cruise age 53 he was just in Mission impossible. He even still does all his own stunts, and he's got a Jack Reacher 2, Mission impossible 6, with a possible edge of tomorrow sequel

edit-two months and a half

Just because Batman has had a history in this universe, having a rouges gallery already, dead robin, possible dead/retired Gordon, that doesn't mean the next Batman movies are going to be about the end of his run.

Robert Downey jr was 43 in the first Iron Man film and has since made two solo sequels, cameo'd in the Incredible Hulk, appeared in two Avengers films, and will appear in the Civil War and likely two Avengers Infinity War films. Affleck is 43 and is appearing in Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, his own solo film, two Justice League films and is rumored to cameo in at least one more hero's film. Concern over his age is extremely unwarranted. Especially considering no one raises this concern with Iron Man.

True.

I dont see him playing this character for more than 2 solo movies and 2 Justice Leagues.

I just realized that Paul Rudd, who just started his superhero career as Antman this year is actually 46, three year older than Affleck. And he's got a sequel in 2018 (same rumored year for Batman solo), with most likely other MCU appearances.

I always thought he younger than that

That's because the physical requirements to play Iron Man and Batman are not the same.

All good performances in well received films by action stars from mid 40's through early 50's (and in one case to late 50s):

Harrison Ford - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 46 years old
Arnold Schwartzeneger - True Lies - 46 years old
Vin Diesel - Furious 7 - 47 years old
Brad Pitt - World War Z - 49 years old
Bruce Willis - Live Free or Die Hard - 51 years old
Mickey Rourke - Sin City - 51 years old
Charles Bronson - Hard Times - 52 years old
Tom Cruise - Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 52 years old
Sylvester Stallone - Rocky Balboa - 59 years old

This thread is idiotic. Ben's in better shape than most guys ten years his junior. He's not a senior citizen.

Get a grip. :o

Not that I think it will be a problem myself--I don't--but I do get the concern. I think it's not so much about right now but rather, say, maybe as far as up ten years down the road. Ben Affleck could have an approximately 10 year run at playing Batman. His first standalone Batman film won't start production until 2017 (scheduled release 2018). If he gets a trilogy deal then there's going to be at least couple years separating each of the two following films. I would guess probably more given that Ben will also be in the two JL films (if Snyder makes a JL trilogy as has been rumored he is considering then that'd presumably be another that Affleck would appear in), plus his other non-Batman directorial projects. He might be passing the cape and cowl on to a younger actor when he's in his early to mid fifties. But even if it is only a seven year run he'll be 49 when filming the last film of the run. (And I agree this is no big deal.) Personally, I have no problem with a middle-aged Batman, as it gives us a fresh take on the character in film. I have zero doubt Affleck will stay fit. In general, I look forward to seeing an older even more badass Batman. I just don't want to see what happened for Harrison Ford with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!

I dont mind him being 50, playing the character. There are days when he doesn't look his age. I dont know if we're getting 2 or 3 solo films. A trilogy is possible but right now im betting on two. Justice League has a better chance at having three, but even if we get to that point, i don't see Bruce having as big of a role in that one.

You also have to think about years down the line when Warner decides to pull the trigger on Batman Beyond. It's a possibility that Ben will be asked to play the supporting character, as old Bruce. If he likes that script and it doesn't interfere with his other commitments, i can see him saying yes to that. Unless he's completely burnt out on the character of course.

Im sure he'll stay fit, and even if he doesn't, he'll be in his 50s, so it's not a big deal if he's a bit out of shape. It would probably fit the character anyway.

I really do believe he'll be playing a smaller role in a third Justice League. Maybe even as Bruce and not Batman. Guiding a slightly different team. I predict 5 or 6 big movies (including Batman v Superman and not including a Batman Beyond down the road) for Ben. Others will be cameos like in Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and any other solo movie he may be a part of. We're talking 1 or 2 scenes max.

I seen a paparazzi photo of him holding a cane in one hand and in the other hand is a slice of pizza with some metamucil sprinkled on it .

Stuntmen do half of their **** anyway

Age isn't a problem here

As a man who is fastly approaching 41, are we saying one's life and ability to demonstrate any form of action or 'spritely' life is over, to me, it seems, these days, once you hit 40, society simply writes you off.

Get back to your rocking chair and the fireplace before you catch cold, you geezer. :o

I agree, it's ridiculous. People act like it's being a senior citizen. I guess that rumor of Batman being retired didn't help eradicate that impression. :oldrazz:
But seriously, a bit less pizza and a bit more cardio and Affleck can do this role for the next twenty years.
