If I get the $199.99 Xbox 360, can I have a hard drive put in later?

The title pretty much explains it all. So is this possible?

Yeah, I believe the Arcade version just doesn't come win an HD, you just buy one later and put it on. Though I think it might just be better to save up a little longer and get one with the HD already.

Yeah, far as I know...with the PS3 you can look for a harddrive that's not only made for the PS3. But the 360 needs one that's made for it, so there's a series of set prices and space, etc.

You could actually transfer all your content from your HDD to a new one if you ever upgrade...but that one sounds complicated too.

I think you might be better off saving a little extra and getting the harddrive. I mean...if I didn't have my HDD...I don't really know how'd I'd save my data.

Just a matter of the transfer cable and disc that comes with the 120 gig drive. I'm considering getting one so I've read the packaging

The Arcade bundle actually comes with a 20GB hard drive, but it's refurbished.

that is not true, it comes with a 256 mb memory card that plugs in the front panel. you can get a 20 gig HD from Microsoft for 20 bucks if you only have an arcade model. and they have a bundle for 100 bucks that gives you a 60 gig HD, a year of live, a headset, and a ethernet cable.

I might upgrade my 60GB to 120GB in the future, but that is if my HD is not sufficient enough for me to store all the games and other downloads I want, which hasn't happened yet.

lol you didnt need to start a thread for this...you can find this simple info in many places...not bein rude just sayin. the arcade 360 space on the top is where the hard drive goes if you purchase one later (you should).

i would just go with the 300 dollar version or even elite if you have the money. because buying a hard drive on its on for the 360 is a complete ripoff.

Can flash drives work as Memory sticks?

nope, if you have content on the flash drive like music or video or picture you can see and play them on the 360. you can only use the HD as storage for games and game related content and downloads.

To clarify about the 20 GB hard drive thing. If you own an Arcade, you can go to the XBox website, put in your serial number and they will sell you a 20 GB hard drive for $20. I did it myself and was very pleased with the whole process. Shipping was cheap and I got it in the mail a couple days later. But in the box, yes it comes with a 256mb memory card.

THis is also true.

Let me start off by saying I bought a 360 in July and loved it. However, I bought a laptop with my entire check last month, and to put money back in my pocket, I had to get rid of my 360.:( I, however, choose to keep my hard drive. Yesterday, I went to circut city just to see how much the arcade would cost with tax. I swear, all I wanted was a price check... until he told me that if I bought the arcade, I would get a used 20 gig Hard drive + a used wireless controller for free... I bought the Arcade.
It all came up to $216 and change.
