If Marvel put out a mandate that one of the members of the third wave of X-Men had to die for good (Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Storm, Colossus), and never come back, who should it be?

Wolverine. He's had his chance to shine. For about ten too many years, and in way too many titles.

Geez, they've already killed Thunderbird and now Banshee, Colossus died but was resurrected, Nightcrawler spent months in a coma, and Storm went months without her powers, Sunfire lost his legs. Wolverine pretty much comes close to death several times a year. How about we kill off some of the newer ones or at least make their lives a tormented living hell, like Gambit.

is there an x-man who hasn't died or dealt with power loss before?

I wonder how hank mccoy's death would be taken?

No one, they're all very important figures in the X-Men but if you mean to just "kill them" (As in, they get ressurected eventually) then Wolverine, he needs some time off the pages IMO

Sunfire...because he appears so little and thus it wouldn't affect much.

All you people saying Wolverine are crazy.

There are two people in the Marvel Universe who shall never die, one of which is Wolverine. The other, you say? Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

What the hell does Emma Frost and Sunfire have to do with this topic?

Neither of them were a part of X-Men back in the early 80's when Xavier sent them to rescue the original five.

Uhm, Sunfire was a member of the original 2nd Genesis team. Sure, he left afterwards, but he was an X-Man. Also, try 1975, not early 80s.

My vote's for Wolverine too.

You know, you're right... I vaguely do remember Sunfire being a part of the team way back then. Although he quit before they even went on their first mission.

They killed off mccoy in ult. and Gambit, and possibly juggernaut as well.
I kinda wish they would kill of wolverine, they never seem to be able to, but if they do kill off characters it will be charcters that will be easily replace or forgotten, I kinda wish they kill off Rogue, I really don't like her.

I'd go with NightCrawler because Wolverine is too important to Marvel, though I don't like him

Wolverine...

He'll find his way back to life later. He could be off action for few years. His overexposure harms him

That's why I chose him, dying would actually do well for his character.

add Hulk and Cap

If they're not going to kill off wolverine, at least someone should send him to another dimension where there is no food or water. And adamantium is as soft as butter.

You've got a great point: this characters will NEVER die.

I'd rather choose Angel. Like, killed in the air for saving one of his mates' life: so you see an Angel dying, wouldn't it be glorious?

edit: I didn't choose one of the above characters for the same reasons brought by danielisthor, but maybe between the four colossus is the less... important? Heroic?

it'd had to be logan for me. Storm and nightcrawler are way too important for the x-men. but i do like wolvie thouh, so i say no one.

Colossus, he's pretty invincible(so far), so it'd have to be a pretty awesome badguy to kill him, although I don't like storm much, so her death would really please me, although her death would also inject a lot of emmotion into the X-men, and really give the characters a good nudge for their development. Not enough people care about wolverine, he's too much of a loner, but storm is at the heart of the team, so her death would have the most reprocusions

nightcrawler's death would also hit the teams pretty hard

^ i think storms would be the biggest shock, although they should kill of several, angel, cyclops, get rid of all the characters I don't like...
