Would we (and by we, I mean the fans mostly) be as racist and prejudiced towards them as Marvel has made normal humans beings out to be for decades? I mean, maybe it's from all this contact with the comics, but I feel kinda jaded towards mutants and am pretty sure I wouldn't be joining up with the Friends of Humanity or somesuch anti-mutant organization anytime soon... I'd probably even be welcoming of them. Hey, we all bleed the same color, right? What do you guys think?

As long as there's still racism in the world, I wouldn't be surprised.

yeah... what if the cast really are mutants  I'd welcome...heh...all of them :p

Off course people would hate mutants. Duh, everyone is just a little racist!

"My heart's a battle ground." I love Sactuary/Passions! Go Utada Hikaru!

a mutant like storm would have probably been blamed for katrina. 'how do we know she didn't make that hurricane' or 'why didn't she do anything to stop it'. i'd side with mutants.

I would be a bad mutant with Magneto if everyone was against me.

There would probably be a lot of people who would be afraid of the more powerful mutants. And I bet a bunch of really lame or weak mutant powers would be seen too, like the power control ketchup or the abillity to grow your nose hair ect..

I think the way humans react in the comics / movies is how humans would react in real life.

I mean, seriously, some of these mutants can be pretty dangerous. Society would probably want to make sure they were still safe. I mean, we already have our President wiretapping our phones and getting our phone records because of terrorists. Surely, similar type stuff would happen to try to stop mutants.

Personally, I wish mutants were real, and I wish I were one. I'm sure being a mutant could come in handy in many different ways (unless, of course, I'm Squid Boy or something :()

I wouldn't mind taking part in some mutant free for alls, if I had like, Colossus' power or something.

Are you kidding? His mutation has plenty of uses... You could make a living off diving for pearls in Sri Lanka, or help marine biologists in their research since you could dive to depths the human being can't even dream of yet... Speaking of which, we're long overdue for a Squid Boy vs. Doc Ock one-shot :D

No matter the mutantion, there are always uses for it.

I for one, wish mutants were real as well.

Not all of them. Some of the people would be mutant fans.

I guess it would depend on the powers emanating from the mutation, and any obvious physical manifestations thereof.

Beast made a good point of it in the movie when he reminded Storm that "You don't shed on the furniture." If you looked normal, then I guess people obviously wouldn't single you out for attack - just like when Nightcrawler asked Mystique why, if she had the power to shift forms, didn't she just stay in a human form. Then again, Mystique's answer was correct: "Because we shouldn't have to."

But I digress.

We humans have a basic fear of the unknown, and I guess that applies to everything and everyone around us. Not knowing what havoc a mutant can wreak would make anyone react defensively. Given enough hysteria and panic, and you have prejudice, which can then lead to oppression and finally, genocide.

I think if mutation along the lines of the X-Verse happened in reality, I can see a lot of mutants with active powers causing a whole lot of mayhem.

I for one, while not being "racist" against all mutants, would certainly be absolutely terrified if there were mutants that "move entire cities with his mind" or "control the forces of nature". Especially considering once the mutant gene came forward, a whole lot of people would be probably end up using their powers for personal gain, maybe some psychos may gain them and simpy use them to destroy and kill, etc.

As sad a fact as it is, the world would become entirely covered in panic and fear.

Plus, I think comparing mutants to say, black people or gay people can sometimes be a little off, because as far as I know, black people, gay people, asian people, etc, couldn't shoot beams from their eyes at you or kill you with a single touch.

Yeah, we all bleed the same. I mean, it's not like we've oppressed any races for hundreds of years or anything, or like women only got the right to vote 180 years after our country was founded, or like we took an entire culture, stole their land, stuck them in Oklahoma, and left them to rot or anything, right?

I mean, I think we live in a country that would accept people for their differences, well . . . unless that is their skin is a different color, they worship differently, they speak a funny language, they have some different body parts, or unless they're *whisper* . . . gay.

No way would we accept them. Many of us would try, but by and large, people are stupid, so we'd fail.
I for one would be totally jealous, much as I am jealous of those who never have to worry about getting sunburned.

I would probably be really jealous I wasn't a mutant, and worried one of them would destroy the world. That's pretty much how I would feel.

As a brief aside, I love your sig ComicKoryn. I totally watched that movie two nights ago.

Note: I have no misgivings about the quality of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, but it still evokes more feeling than X-men: The Last Stand could ever hope to.

Yeah...me too. And plus I would really like to meet a mutant, maybe with Jean or Storm's powers so that we could fly together.

I think the Government, George Bush especially, would probably go hyper-aggressive is mutants rose up. Think about it, do you think him of all people would sit back whilst the small percentage of mutants use their powers without conscience?

I hella doubt it.

There is always going to be racism its a fact of life, the sooner people realize this and accept it the better. Accept it get over it and everyone will be fine. Just saying.

If mutants were real it wouldn't be a matter of racism...it would be more than that. These, let's call them people, would be looked at as monsters, freaks or even gods.

If there were mutants, there would be a lot more destruction and chaos than what we seen in the Xmen movies!

Agreed.

Mutants are real.
Look at a lot of medical conditions and genetic disabilities.
And society separates them, they have to fight prejudices, they got killed for being different under several political governments, ...

If i was a mutant i would want billies power from charmed its kick ass. SHe can rpoject herself anywhere even into the future and past. How cool is that.

if i were a telepath/telekinetic, im sure id cause some trouble and get in jail eventually
i mean, i would still be a good person, but im sure i'd get what i wanted from people...i would be a good person with bad moments...eventually i could turn into a manipulator...thats a freaking possibility *fears*
