If the PS3 loses MGS4 and FF13, is it the final nail?

Let's face it, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Final Fantasy 13, are the only 2 definate system sellers the PS3 has left. Sony is in serious trouble if they lose these two games as exclusives. The PS3 has many promising exclusives to come including:

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Killzone 2
inFAMOUS
LittleBigPlanet
Metro 2033: The Last Refuge
Motorstorm 2
Resistance 2: Rise of Man
Eight Days
Heavy Rain
L.A. Noire
God of War 3
Team ICO's new project

With these games and more under its belt, does it need its big 2 to survive, or will the more promising titles win enough people over? God of War is sure to be a system seller, but with it so far in the future, can the PS3 save itself from going under if these games go?

Sony made the decision to let GTA go for Rockstar's next bigt franchise, they'll leave the kicking themselves until after they realise it won't be as successfull as GTA.

True, true. So in another sense, its also dependant on if the constant Sony promises to see mutliplatform games turn in favour of the PS3 versions finally. DiRT does it, the Darkness is on par with the 360 version and Jericho seems to be the nicest looking game on PS3 yet. Maybe if PS3 multiplatform versions do catch up (maybe even best) 360 versions, it'll still have a fighting chance.

Wait, who thought that? It got too many unfair comparsions, cuz, ironically, the GOW style blades are the weakest and most useless forms. Which like Killzone being the Halo killer, new games should'nt be compared to powerhouses in their genre, it's just not fair or smart.

If Sony loses those two titles, it'll be a huge hit, final nail? Im not sure but its a possibility.

But neither of em are a system seller for me, Uncharted, however is. I think ima pick up a PS3 sometime near its release. That and id like to have a Blu-Ray to go along with my HDDVD player.

How long does a console generation last? Like 5 years right? I doubt Sony will disintegrate and crumble if it were to lose MGS4 and FFXIII. It will ride the 5 years out fine; definetly not as well as the PS2, but I dont see them going the way of the DC or GC. Theres plenty of titles on the horizon not to mention the stuff developers will come up with as time goes on

Yea, i dont think the PS3 will just die out, but in terms of being able to compete with MS, the loss of those 2 games could really just halt its chances. But, yea it wont go the DreamCast route.

Glad to see your being realistic bc there are peopel that actually think Sony is just going to die like the DC if it were to lose these 2 exclsuives. It will be a huge hit, but it wont destroy them

I have come to the conclusion that MGS4 is the most lusted-for game this gen. Look at how many rumors Xbox-only owners are starting about it getting ported to Xbox, that says something if you ask me. How many rumors do you hear about say, Halo 3 or Mass Effect getting ported to PC? Almost none, and I think it's because most non-Xbox fans don't really care about them. With MGS4 on the other hand, some Xbox fans (and company execs) seem almost ready to get on their knees and beg for it to go multiplatform. People say MGS does not sell consoles, but given how desperate some people seem to be to get their hands on MGS4 that they'd start all these rumors, I would beg to differ.

I dont think most 360 fans even care about having MGS4 on the platform; just as long as Sony doesnt have it exclusive so they can have something to laugh at. Most of the comments I read here seem to gear towards that. You dont hear many talk about wanting MGS4 bc its a great game and they want to play. Nope its mostly about wanting it on the platform just so teh PS3 can fail

Well the rumors of MGS4 goin mp, arent just made up "fanboy" rumors, there is some backing to them.

I think its safe to say that if MGS4 comes to the 360, it would be one of best selling titles of that year!

I would fall right into that category of gamers, people always say that I'm crazy for being a PS3 owner and for not wanting a 360, but it just doesn't appeal to me. Personally, I think Halo is overated and there is nothing that can tempt me to go to M$ side of things... I have never been impressed by the 360 enough to even consider buying one

I don't think the PS3 is going the way of the Dreamcast. If they do lose MGS4 and Final Fantasy, it would be a deciding blow no doubt, but they will always be around.
