Yes I'm a gal, but I abhor shoe shopping.

My problem: I have short, fat feet and blocky toes. I'm a 6.5 E (E is the widest shoe measurement they have, B is standard).

So, when I'm looking for shoes I need something that hides the toes - that cuts my possibilities in half. Then I need to find the wide sizes. Your average store like Walmart simply doesn't carry half sizes or wide sizes, so I have to go to a store that specializes in shoes. Even there, I went to two yesterday and the widest they had was D - so I had to go up a size.

Now, even if you go up a size, if you have wide feet, the flipping things will pinch / rub somewhere. My feet get sore just trying on the different "wide" shoes trying to find one that doesn't pinch too much.

For all that pain and aggravation I end up with a pair of shoes that are not particularly attractive, have a heel higher than I like and cost twice what I expected to pay (and 3 times what I wanted to pay).

My feet aren't as wide as yours, but I do wear a 5.5 Wide. So that size is really hard to find too.

Have you tried looking at children's shoes? Some of my work shoes have come from the girl's section. I find that kid's shoes seem to be a little roomier. Granted, the selection isn't the greatest, but like I said, I have had some luck there.

I literally just found out the other day that the company that made my favorites shoes went out of business.

I just tie potato sacks around my feet. One size fits all, super cheap and it comes with a free lunch.

And it's an amazing fashion statement. I like your idea. Potato sacks for everyone!

Good grief my fiancee has a special section in the cupboard that opens up like a top secret room in a government facility just for her shoes.:funny:

I own just one pair of Converse. Once they fall apart, I buy a new one, alternating between black and red. I've been doing this since I was 5 years old.

I have six pairs of shoes; three sets of heels, two flats, and a pair of sneakers. I do have a pair of winter boots, but those are donned on rare occasions. Every year I buy a pair of cheapie flip flops to wear out and about, and then they get tossed at the end of the season.

I actually bought my runners from the "boys" section - at least they allow boys to have wider feet.

I have triple E width feet with a very high arch. Getting comfortable shoes is a *****. Between that and how I walk my shoes don't last very long since I always put my weight on the front of my foot it wears through the sole very quickly.

The only shopping I like is food and online.

I like shoes, but my bunions hate them. I'd have surgery, but I can't spend that much time off my feet.

I refuse to buy shoes at stores, I too am an E because of how wide my feet are. I buy all my shoes online

I wear a size 8 1/2 but my foot is kind of small and wide instead of long and narrow so all the boots I like in the stores never fit my feet. :(

Is it just me or is the poll messed up? It shows 60% of the poll for one thing then 80% for another.

I can easily sympathize with your plight, Redmarvel. It's frustrating to need shoes coupled with the inability to find them. I wear a 14.5 W/EE or 15, both are impossible to find. I've gotten to the point where I'll buy a pair of well-fitting shoes whenever I find them rather than wait until I'm in need of a new pair.

That poll needs an "other" option. I don't mind shopping for shoes. I just don't do it very often because I don't buy shoes until my current pair wears out. I have a pair for work. A pair for the weekend. And a pair of boots for rain and snow.
