If there was a way for you to no longer require sleep...

I'd want to keep my sleep. It's too peaceful to give up.
 
I like sleep and wouldn't give it up . I would liek to reduce the amount of time required to function during the day though.
 
I like sleep too much to give it up. Plus when I'm annoyed or stressed a good sleep always sets me right.
 
You can try it for 24 hrs and then decide to keep it or not.
 
I feel like sleep is a waste of time. Even if I am not doing something important, its better than sleeping. I do like a comfy bed though.

I would very happily give up sleep to experience a conscious lifespan that was 25-30% longer. :up:

I remember reading a sci-fi short story about this somewhere. Basically a small group of genetically-engineered people who don't need to sleep, and how the rest of the human populace mistrusts them and treats them badly.

Also an X-Files episode where a few soldiers were part of an experiment to free them of the need to sleep, but they all go insane because their brains can't handle being without the REM state.
 
Sleep isn't just about recovering strength. You know guys, there is research in development to invigorate a body such that it no longer needs sleep, with soldiers in mind. I believe without a doubt the results will be disastrous.. Sleep is not wholly understood; it is more than some supplemental mechanism.
 
Probably not. It would be nice to not need much sleep, like only an hour or two. But it breaks up your days, it's a psychological thing.
 
I would not want to give up sleep..... I love my dreams :D
 
I don't get much sleep, so I'd be willing to try. It's between 3-5 hours sleep.
 
the biggest plus side that I can see is if I didnt sleep I wouldn't get caught sleeping at work and would reduce the number of butt chewings I take.
 
I'd take it if I could sleep recreationally or if I had a headache (sleep is the fastest way to get rid for me)
 
I'd give up the habit of sleeping. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't take a naps every once in a while when I felt like it.

waking up, looking at alarm clock, and realizing its saturday so you turn over and go back to sleep feeling >>>>>>>>> not needing sleep and being freshly rested 24/7
 
I love sleep and dreaming, and the time before sleep is often when I get my best ideas... then I get up, work, and then fall back asleep.
 
So much to do if sleep wasnt a factor. No sleep..
