I do find it amusing that Obama isn't being bipartisan enough when he basically proposes republican ideas in the first place and the gop shoots it down. Also amazing no one remebers the gop publically stating their number one priority is making Obama fail and a 1 term President. I think that right there would be a red flag that it isn't Obama' fault.

What are you talking about? There was a bill cosponsored by some moderate Republicans in the Senate in the 1990's and Heritage Foundation came out with a similar plan. This plan which did not receive a single Republican vote and was criticized by many conservatives. This plan was also not what we see with Obamacare. Some similarities, but it also had tort reform, it did not have an employer mandate, and it didn't expand medicaid. If they wanted to pass it they could have passed it. Obviously, they didn't think it was a good idea or they would have voted and passed it don't you think?

If anything was the Republican plan in the 90's it was the Action Now Health Reform bill that actually got some Republican votes in the house. This was mainly aimed at the self-employed and small businesses.

Obama had two years to pass whatever he needed to pass, it doesn't matter what the Republican's goals were, they really couldn't do anything for the first two years because the Dems controlled the House, Senate, and Executive Office. It's a myth that the Obama administration tried to work with Republicans.
“We have the votes. **** ’em.”
was not only what Rahm Emanuel said, but seems to be the general attitude when dealing with Republicans in those first two years.
