If you could fish any project(s) out of Development Hell...

Any film with Arnie Hammer as Batman

John carter 2

Hellboy 3

Burton Keaton Batman 3

Off the top of my head, probably Cameron's Battle Angel. It's all set up and ready to go but has taken a backseat to Avatar unfortunately. Greatest superhero film never made is probably still Bryan Singer's X-Men 3. Although, Cameron's Spider-Man would have been glorious.

Its just heartbreaking that Cameron is this his Avatar high. Not just even part 2..but 3 and 4.

1. Bryan singer's x3
2. Sam raimi's original Spider-Man 3 (minus venom)
3. Kevin Williamson's scream 3
4. Kevin Williamson's scream 4 before all the rewrites

LOL, poor Terry. But not gonna lie, I would have loved to see his versions of any of those projects. Even after what we've heard about his Watchmen.

Also, after having read the screenplay for Flyby, I'd like to see that film. Even with freakin' McG directing. While it certainly had some issues, I honestly preferred that screenplay (the revision that nixed the Kryptonian Lex element) over those of Superman Returns and Man of Steel.

Yeah, JJ's Flyby was better than both movies.

Gore Verbinski's Bioshock will always be at the top. The plans he had for a 100M budget and emphasized on it being a hard R rated horror film. F'n A. The worse part was he promised this project wouldn't die when he had to leave it.

Battle Angel.
Halo Movie
Star Wars 7! (Oh wait a second!) :wow:

Heh, it's funny. If WB played their cards right, they could have had a Superman franchise by JJ Abrams and a Wonder Woman franchise by Joss Whedon, to compliment Nolan's Batman. They had both of those at one point and let them go. Live and learn. :o

Absolutely! I was very much looking forward to Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman! Oh well, Warner Bros' loss is Marvel Studios' gain!

Brad Bird's "1906", about the San Francisco earthquake/fire, based on the James Dalessandro novel. I like epic period films and that one in particular sounded awesome. I think the issue was the budget and the script... and I think Brad Bird's no longer directing, which sucks... but if they ever get around to it, that'd be great.

Indiana Jones 5 Get the fedora on Ford one more time.

He Man As I've said before,a rich storyline deserving the big budget treatment.

Voltron This is another who is due a shot in big budget live action.

There have been rumors for all three, but nothing has ever come of it.

I forgot about the Bioshock movie, yeah that one I want to see too.

Anyone know if they were doing an Elder Scrolls series or no?

Basically, we need more video game movies, but they suck at respecting it!

Oh Lawd.

JJ version of Superman was bloody awful. The Whedon script has been reviewed before, it was nothing to be excited about.

Amazing Spider-Man 3
Batman Beyond
Logan's Run remake
Hellboy 3
Bioshock

I've read both scripts.

JJ's Superman would have been akin to his Star Trek. It would have angered purist but the general audience would have ate it up and gone back for seconds and thirds.

But it's not about the scripts but the director's themselves, as filmmakers and storytellers. Both could outdirect Zack Snyder in their sleep. :o

I agree. A lot.

Sure it changes things (3 big ones at most?) and the 3rd act is a mess, but it's not even a poorly written script. You can strip it apart in individual scenes and be left with truly shiny gems. The several Superman rescues (the wife beater one being my favorite). The childhood scenes... which aren't just angsty and dramatic, but actually throw in some fun and wonder. The Clark/Lois romance. The badass action. The humor, the banter, the dialogue.

There were just too many pluses to let alien Lex and Krypton=alive overshadow it. With some reworkings I think people would have loved it.

Both of those things were dropped by the second draft. They were definitely on the right track. Abrams needed to be in the directors chair though. After McG was fired, he lobbied HARD to direct. After WB turned him down, Tom Cruise (who encouraged JJ to fight for the Superman job) hired him to direct M:I3 (which launched his directorial career).

Where did you read about Tom Cruise? Hadn't heard that before. But yup, I wish they would have taken a chance on Abrams, and I bet after SR they did too. I think it would have been a crowdpleaser. Although I should say I prefer the first (more controversial) draft over the second one, feels more imaginative and less studio note-y.

Well the rest is history..
