This came up in a conversation over the weekend.

If you were guaranteed Heaven if you died right now regardless of your past actions, would you take it or live out the rest of your natural life with no guarantee of where you will go?

Live out life. I trust myself to make good decisions.

My beliefs tell me I am guaranteed heaven....so I guess it comes down to your beliefs...

no. i wouldn't want anyone who cared about me, like my fiancee, friends, and family, to be sad.

I'm not trying to be egotistical. It just seems pretty self serving to put yourself and your "eternal" happiness (whatever it means) before the suffering you might leave behind by exiting so abruptly.

its seems like a paradox to me, actually.

Since I don't believe in Heaven, the question doesn't really matter to me. It would be pretty difficult for someone to convince me that I'd definately go to Heaven.

I'd live out the rest of my life. I choose reality over fantasy.

I agree. Catholocism says if you become a martyr you're garanteed into heaven. On the other hand, it also says, if you commit suicide you go to hell. So if you become a martyr in order to go to heaven, you go to hell. :down

I have way too much to do at the moment

just being with my kids as they grow up and making sure they do better than me is enough reason not to die any time soon

Wow. No consquences for your bad actions and reward regardless of good actions.

I wish I could find an employer who has shares your beliefs. ;)

That'll get you into heaven provided you don't do anything stupid

only if someone else was, then yeah I would.

It's a hypothetical question, of which one of the parameters is that heaven exists.

I guess for me, it would depend on what heaven was like. There's so much I want to do on earth that I may or may not be able to do in heaven

Oooooh no, theres much more to it than that....I'm just not the type to go into it...I have my beliefs...others share different beliefs....I was simply referring to the question in the first post...

God put me here for a reason (which I have yet to find out what that reason is) I shall stay until he decides to bring me home, because he hasn't allowed me to do that myself yet.

That's a good answer.

If Heaven is a place with absolutely no sin, exactly how much would there be to do??

Quit your job dude. Do something you've always wanted to do instead. No job is worth it if it makes you feel miserable every morning.

Since we don't really know for sure what gets one into heaven, I'd go for it.

And you'd be leaving your family, and you'll miss them, and them you, but they'll all die within a few decade and (hopefully) join you. Then you'll have the rest of eternity to see each other. I wouldn't really feel bad leaving early considering that.

screw that being in a higher place with a load of goodie 2 shoes

Everyone dies sooner or later, its easier now that your guaranteed heaven.

i would go for it.

I'll live out the rest of my life, f**k free passes.

^ And risk going to hell? man you would regret it.
