Man, every movie makes sense now. In Friday the 13th, Jason wasn't mad that he drowned while the camp councilors were fornicating, he was mad that he wasn't getting any and now when the weapons he uses are just an extension of his penis.

Before I went, I honestly didn't know what to expect. I've never been a huge fan of war movies or movies with a lot of blood and gore...I'm more of a comedy-movie type girl. But after actually watching it (twice) this movie was definately kick-ass! And very cleverly done!! It was way more than I ever expected and I definately wouldn't mind seeing it a few more times...:oldrazz:

OMG, your right, it's all about sexual metephors!

Seems to me like you're a hypocrit. How can sexual stabbing between the same sex not be gay. That's like letting another man grind on your ass, and all you can say is ,It's not gay it's just sexual in nature. To tell you the truth I didn't see any of that gay stuff going on at first, however after seing it a couple of times, you people are ruining the experience for me. I got a gay video for you, check out micheal jackson "beat it" a bunch of guys holding hands and dancing... Seems kinda funny that nobody notice the sexual tensions between the dancers and micheal jackson.Give me a break, stop looking for all these extras that we really don't need.

how am i, in any way, being a hypocrite? the stabbings were sexualized. connecting the sexual joys of penetration (be it hetero or otherwise) to the joys of the violent penetration. its not a literal interpretation. so just because they are stabbing other men doesnt equate them to being gay. its simply a metaphor connecting the pleasures of both.

i suppose subtlety (not that this movie was...)is dead. and i can unescapably see the reason that movie producers believe their audiences are on the shallow end of the intelligence pool.

and why do people think we are digging for this stuff? it was all pretty superficial.

and im glad i can ruin it for ya by simply showing you WHAT WAS IN THE MOVIE!

You're an evil person, seems like you have too much sex on the brain. I guess being that I live in the city we hear and see people getting stab all the time. I guess when I think of stabbing, I think of death or hospital bed. I do think of the penetrating stuff, I just don' think it's sexual. Just that it's *****ed up. I have never thought of stabbing as being sexual. You know what I just notice? Remember in gladiator, in the last battle against ceaser. Did you notice how sexually charged that battle was, I mean, did you notice when ceaser got stabbed in the neck. Just before maximus penetrated his neck, he looked into his eyes.Man gladiator was so gay. I got another one for you, how about when proximo said to slave trader " the giraffes won't mate, you sold me queer giraffe" man how could I not have seen all this before. Thanks for opening my eyes, but I think I will close them again. I like watching thing blindly, it enjoy it more.

Ya screw Freud with his "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" bull****, it's always a cock and it's always about sex, and something to do with my Mom!

I just came back from this movie, and I really thought it was amazing on a visceral level.
Visually it was stunning, and did not for a second look like a video game, the colors were just highly saturated, I find it refreshing to witness something visually fresh.
The story was linear and simple, but the movie wasn't made to have you rethink your life, yet the choreography was exquisite, the carnage astounding.
The characters were fascinating to look at, you really felt like you were witnessing a whole other world.
It worked on every level it was meant to, to near perfection.
It may be categorized as mindless entertainment, but it was very fantastic, unlike most of the drivel coming out of Hollywood.

There is a poll on the mainsite rating the movie 300.

your an idiot. not every stabbing is sexual. it was portrayed that way in THIS movie. period. im baffled at the stupidity of some people. is the concept of visual metaphor so far gone that its a foreign idea?

whatever.

Okay, since I'm probobly one of these "idiots" you are referring too, I must ask do you really grasp why people dont understand why stabbing iwould be a sexual metaphor in this film. Maybe, just maybe, to 99.98% of people they see stabbing as a means of killing people, and not symbolising sexual penetration.

This isn't some film class with some stuffy teacher, we are just reguler people here talking about a movie we like. Pull the stick out and drop the attitude. :whatever:

The stick is the only thing keeping it up!

The director states in his interview with Entertainment Weekly that he purposefully portrayed Xerxes as sexually ambiguous in order to scare young straight men in the audience with the thought of him "having his way with them". He admits that the homosexual undertones are intended to make straight males uncomfortable.
Equating homosexuality with deviance and villainy is homophobic and insulting. Xerxes is obviously intended as the evil feminised opposite of the Spartans' hyper-masculine heterosexuality.

Umm no he's not. He's also portrayed as masculine. If you are gonna use quotes use all of it. Its also stated that in portraying Xerxes as a god king he is shown with all qualities.

It would be one thing if the film had balanced out Xerxes with heroic gay Spartans, but instead it erases what really existed, - Spartans who has same-sex lovers,- and depicts something that didn't exist, - a feminised, predatory gay stereotype.
How usual for bigoted Hollywood.

Quick call GLAAD.:whatever:
You are totally missing the point IMO.

so by this logic.... when the queen stabs the politician... is it symbolic of a love for strap ons?

specifically i was referring to him because he keeps bringing up these rediculous non-sensical analogies that have no bearing on anything. they dont relate to the argument and miss the point entirely. but that aside, i understand that people dont see it. but thats missing the forest for the trees. at its most literal/basic/straightforward appearance, a spear is a blunt killing device. that's all it is. a means to defeat an enemy. spears pierce flesh, so naturally thats what they are gonna do. i get it. and if thats all you want to get out of the film, great. take it at face value. but it was displayed, in very purposeful ways, to be a metaphor otherwise. does that mean im a sexual deviant grasping at straws? hardly, but you act as if its unheard of. that visual metaphors, in any film, are figments of an overactive imagination. it happens all the time. in fight club, the director specifically states he wanted the basement they were fighting in to feel like a womb. so he shot it accordingly. but to most who watched it, it was simply a basement. who's right? i dunno. but what i do know is that the attempt was there. and thats the point. dont go thinking im pulling this out of my ass. maybe im completely off base, maybe im not. but dont act like its an unheard of phenomenon. and thats that.

keep liking the movie for whatever reason. just dont shoot the messanger.

and yes, he's still an idiot.

You are so right PrivateEye.I was watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre the other night and thought to myself "All this time I thought he was some deranged ******".That is not it at all..I came to conclusion that when people look at him they see violence, and sex personified on his face...therfore it has a hidden message that sex..and violence are ugly and we should all just be nice people and love one another.Man you opened my eyes.God bless you good sir.

easily the best movie this year(so far) and one of the best movies ive seen in a long time.

but judging by the last few posts, i might be called a f*g for saying that.

due to my idiocy, I just thouth that gladiator might of had a hidden message in it. Or that micheal Jackson video for that matter. I guess I was wrong to assume that there was anything in that movie, and the video. I think you're the idiot, the reason I brought up those other topics was to make a point.I guessed you made it for me. If you remember their were spears, swords, and a whole lot of stabbing as well in gladiator. However during that movie you didn't see the sexual metaphors. All the sudden you have men in their underwear with spear, and swords and it symbolizes something. I might be an idiot, but you sir is under cover homo. I bet you, you think every football player is gay. This is my last response to you, because you have female tendecies. What that mean is, you like to whine, argue, and nag just like a woman. On that note I'll do to you what I do females who whines at me... I'm sorry sweetie, next time you talk I'll try to pay more attention.

Nah I don't think anybody will call you that man. I loved that movie, it kicked ass. Everywhere you go, you know you always need a message board idiot.:whatever:

case in point. you just proved how stupid you are. but "I is the under cover homo" :whatever: . once again, i said it was a sexual metaphor, not a homosexual one. wow. but its pretty obvious you've got the masculinity issues here. learn to shape an argument, and get back to me when you grow up.
