Although they did get a lot of the games right, their placement is certainly up for debate.

But I gotta agree, the first Resident Evil was the only game that got me scared to the point of making me hesitant to play more. Perhaps it was because of how young I was at the time or perhaps it had something to do with the fact that it was the first time we got a truly terrifying title that taught us how to fear a ****ing video game. :(

Resi 1 was so scary I turned it off in the second room. :( (this is the GC one) Bloody great game though, completed it now. Shame Resi 4 isn't scary in the slightest.

Surprised Silent Hill wasn't mentioned. After playing the first, I was afraid to play the rest of the games.

Agreed, Hill, I think SH is freakin' scary.

Condemned wasn't really scary, just intense.

RE deserved to be #1 though.

Where the **** is Silent Hill???!!!

Who the **** gets scared by a videogame?

Agreed. Silent Hill is the only game that has genuinely scared me. A few have shocked me with certain moments, but Silent Hill maintained that atmosphere of being on edge near-constantly.

It's my number 1 scary game.

RE4 scared me, but mostly it was quick scares, but the game was intense overall.

I've never once gotten scared at any video game. Guess that means I'm soulless?

Silent Hill scared me more than most movies can manage. Especially the school.

Games and films rarely shock me, but the ones that came closest by far are Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2. Easy

Man that school...that part most of all literaly gave me the shakes. I was trembling in fear. Still don't know how I managed to finish that game.

I remember borrowing Resident Evil from my cousin one weekend and that game scared the s--t out of me. I was scared to play Silent Hill. Not good for the dark....lol Those freaky zombie babies were the worst

That's because all you do is watch a movie, whereas in videogames you actually have some degree of control (or lack thereof) to scare you. It's one thin gto watch a person go into a scary school in a movie, it's entirely different to have to force that character to go into the school yourself.

Spot on. I'm thinking of posting sections of my dissertation on here, which covers pretty much the kind of notions you've mentioned.

Silent hill scary? LOL! That'll be the day! :woot: I saw 90% of Silent hill2 and bits of Silent hill. Nothing scary about it. I use words like disturbing and obvious to describ it. Still the only game on that list I've even played is AVP2 the reat either don't interest me or are crap.

Resi 5 might be scary, going back to zombies and better graphics.

Silent Hill and Resident Evil 1-4 really give me the shakes.

Resident Evil is scary when you encounter the Novistadors, Regenerators, and the creepy evil zealots in the castle.
