There's a Marvel 75th Anniversary Omnibus coming out. That might be a good start. After all, how are we supposed to distill an entire universe of characters like that?

Don't read the clone saga, Kravens last hunt also known as Fearful symmetry is one of the finest Spider-Man stories out there.

agreed! thats exactly what i did about 8 months ago!

As awkward as it may seem, with comics you may want to start at the most recent stuff and work your way back.

It's more relevant, faster-paced, (often) more well written and generally doesn't rely too heavily on previous arcs.

At least from my experience.
