I'm Just a Little Bit Caught in the Middle: Third Parties

Do you belong to a third party, if so which one?

  • Libertarian

  • Green

  • Modern Whig

  • Constitution

  • Independent

  • Other

I think I'm going to register for the LP after all. I think in order to cast off the negative stereotypical visions of third parties, we must have more competent and moderate thinkers in those parties to give them legitimacy. So anyone who has hesitation of joining the LP because its beliefs are more radical than you would like, you can always declare thyself a moderate.

I wish more people thought like you do. When someone says Libertarian, everyone seems to rush to call them anarchists. Or call a Green a hippie or something.

Just like any other party, there are extremists, and then there are the rest or us.

I would not be surprised if half of voters actually more closely aligned to a third party then the party the currently consider themselves. But they're either afraid of their 'vote not counting' or just don't know about the third party at all.

I am guessing if the media ever gave any third party fair and equal time as the Dem and Republicans, you would see an increase in votes for them, but the media basically treats third parties as non important which is a self fulfilling prophecy.

Bad news, I told my sister I'm registering for the LP and she told me that I'm joining a party that doesn't know what it wants. She claims third parties are a bunch of undecided voters who are ignorant of the issues or don't know where they fit in politically, so they banded together to form alternative parties. Imma gonna cutta b@#$@. :cmad:

And what party is your sister?

Because the Dems are so spread out they typically can't organize into a cohesive whole.

And the Reps are in the middle of virtually splitting the party apart.

She's a Republican and her favorite president was Regan.

I can't even tell quite where Regan would fit in today's party. He did things like grow the government to outspend the USSR, and yet broke up the phone monopoly and deregulated the airlines.

Insight into what goe son in the Libertarian Party of Nevada and why it is hard to grow.

It's true...at the end of the day I rather watch my day time soaps and work than pay attention to politics. And when I do pay attention and care, it's on the country scale, not in local races and what not.
