I'm really, REALLY pissed off right now

No, their point was the West defended the Muhammad cartoons, yet condemed the questioning of the Holocaust... not that creating Holocast cartoons would create an equal response.

You are doing just that... saying the Muhammad cartoons were 'harmless', but condeming the Holocaust ones. Their point is proven.

And no, they would not pick to make fun of those, since, if you knew anything about Islam (which from your statements, you really don't), you'd know that Moses (Musa) and Jesus (Isa) are honored as prophets in Islam, so it wouldn't make much sense to dishonor them in such a manner, would it?

Plus, they would pic a hot-button issue... something akin to the depiction of the entirety of Islam as terrorists. Holocaust denial is just that thing.
How is their point proven? Their point would be even if they did something of an equal nature. Making fun of the holocaust and denying it is not cool. I don't see how it is equal to a rediculous cartoon.
Anyway their point was not proved. The reaction to their holocaust cartoons are no where near as big as they reacted to the Muhammad cartoons.

If they would have drawn cartoons of Jesus, Moses or Abraham then it wouldn't be a big issue, as a matter of fact it would have been funny if they compared Jesus to Republican or something. Making fun of the holocaust jsut isn't right.

One reason as to why drawings are not encouraged in Islam is because it leads to idol worshipping, this one of the things that Islam stopped when it became the dominant religion in Arabia. After the death of the prophet many felt that they should "believe" in Mohammad and toss out Allah (Arabic meaning of God). This was not the message that Mohammad preached, he preached the rememberance of one God. The God of Abraham, the same God in which both the Jews and Christians believed in.

Of course making fun of the Holocaust is not right, and luckily Daisy already pointed it out to you.

Are you telling me that there aren't holy wars in the mid east? Are you serious that there is no fighting over Holy Land?

And are you telling me that Islam had no since of understanding of other faiths? Who do you think runs the holy church of the spelicur (sp?) its run by TWO muslim families since the time of the crusades the same treaty to which both Saladin and King Richard agreed upon.
And in the 800 year of Islamic history in Spain the Jews were give more freedom than they ever had while the Muslims dominated the country, do you remember what happened in the inquistion? who then was not tolerant? The situation thats going on in the middle east is not about religion but about politics nut jobs on both ends brought upon the word religion to the debate (God said that this was mine etc...).

I gotta go and pick up my little sister from school, I'll come back to this later.

You just continue to prove the point. You're looking at it from your non-Muslim perspective.

Once again, who put you in charge of deciding what is 'equal' in terms of offensiveness?

Both depictions feed ignorance and hate... one toward Muslims, the other toward Jews. Why is one 'worse' than the other? Other than 'because you say so"?

Thank God that we seperate church and state is seperated in the United States. I love the show Late Night With Conan O' Brien. He has this character called NASCAR Jesus. Where Jesus comes out in a little car with a shot gun and Sweet Home Alabama playing in the backround.
That is funny. Does Conan get death threats for it? No. Is anyone upset about this? No.
Of course not, it's just a bit.
If Conan made fun of the victims of 9/11, would people be upset? Yeah, probably.

Maybe it's the fact that I'm an American, but I think making fun of something as rediculous as a characature of Muhammed or Jesus (I am a Christian so don't say that I don't care about Jesus) is no where near as awful as making fun of mass murder.

Their point isn't that the reactions would be equal.

Their point is that the West downplays the 'offensiveness' of the Muhammad cartoons and claims they are a part of freedom of expression, and that at the same time decries the Holocaust cartoons... that there is two different sets of rules.

And you've been doing just that... repeatedly.

What you just don't seem to get is that the negative depiction of Muhammad is as much a hot-button issue for Muslims as the denial of the holocaust is for Jews/Westerners. That's what the choice of the Holocaust as a topic is saying: "This is what it is like for us. Yet, you downplay it. Say, 'it's just a silly cartoon'. We're just freely expression ourselves."

Considering the number of people who believe that Islam is a religion of violence... founded on violence... and that all Muslims are terrorists... how are the Muhammad cartoons 'ridiculous little cartoons' any more than the Holocaust cartoons?

That's just irrational on the part of the Muslims. Would anyone cause mass hysteria if someone made fun of Jesus? No. If someone stereo-typed Americans? No. That stuff happens all the tie, big deal.
If an African nation made fun of Americans and sterotyped us, you wouldn't see any body make a cartoon that makes fun of AID's.

My comparisson fits. It's basically the same thing.

No, it doesn't... and it's not, but you're either too young or too stuck inside your own worldview to even begin to see someone else's point-of-view or just not smart enough to understand.

I'm guessing it's the first one, but only time will tell.

Why doesn't it fit? You said yourself that they just want to prove that they can make a cartoon about a hot button issue in respone to theMuhammed cartoons. You said that "'This is what it is like for us. Yet, you downplay it. Say, 'it's just a silly cartoon'. We're just freely expression ourselves.'"
That would be like if the United States blasted (through cartoons) for making fun of us everytime we get made fun of (which is alot.)
It's like you said "freely expressing ourselves."

I don't support the cartoons, per se, but it's certainly a better response than burning down embassies or killing people on mass in response.
