Ok, I have heard a lot about this Infinite Crisis storyline, but I´ve come to the conclusion that I don´t really know anything about it... What is it exactly? and which TPB´s do i need to read it?

Not really my question about TPBs...

Be careful though, wikipedia tells you basically the whole story.

As for the TPB question, all you'd really need, I'd say, is the Identity Crisis and Infinite Crisis TPBs. There's plenty of filler TPBs too, but that'd make it all pretty pricey.

Oh, and read this beforehand... :o

I allready have the Identity Crisis one, that´s why it caught my interest... But I´ve tried searching Amazon and other sites for the Infinite Crisis TPBs and there are so many different results popping up, that I don´t really know which ones I "need"...

I recently got the Omac TPB isn't that what started this whole deal in the first place?

No, it had something to do with it but that is just a tiny piece of the puzzle that made up Infinite Crisis. There was also Villains United. Rann/Thangar War. And I believe another miniseries that tied into the Infinite Crisis events, but I can't recall the name of it.

Well, I just searched Amazon and Infinite Crisis was the first choice that popped up. Though the hardcover isn't out until this Wednesday. So if you go to your local comic shop or bookstore on Wednesday you should be able to find it. It's only out in Hardcover and probably won't go into TPB form for quite some time because DC is gay like that. :oldrazz:

all you have to know is superboy prime punches the universe, and that's why there are continuity errors...it was pretty god damn bad :o

I hate to see Batman envolved in those kind of stories.

I just noticed that the Infinite Crisis Hardcover got pushed back to October now, so it won't be coming out this Wednesday.

Most of all I´m trying to keep my collection up to date with continuity, even if the whole thing is bad, I still think I need it...

btw; following infinite crisis, is there anything out TPB/Graphic novel-wise concerning the One Year Later storyline?

- In Norway, where I live, there´s not really that many availability in comics, so I just try to collect as much TPBs and Graphic novels I can... (those including Batman, that is)

Infinite Crisis isn't really bad...it was just that punching the universe explaination for why things changed that sucked. :o

In any case, yeah, the OYL Batman arc just came out in TPB a few weeks ago. It's called Face The Face.

Ok, I actually picked that up last week, but I wasn´t really sure if that was the one (though the whole story about batman being away for a year should have tipped me off), cause it was rather dissappointing to me, really...

For one thing, I hated seeing the ventriloquist killed, he was a villain that had really grown on me over the last few years...Plus I think Harvey became Two-Face again a bit too fast, even though Two-Face is my favourite Batman-villain, I would have wanted to see more of Harvey Dent first...But I guess the whole Idea of the series was getting rid of some of the lamest villains and going back to basics (Gordon is again Commissioner, Two-Face returns etc.) but, no, it didn´t work for me...

I was actually more put off by the awful, jarring changes in art every 2 pages of every issue than the universe punching thing. Also the fact that Superboy Prime is the most Emo character in any literature, EVER. Seriously, the guy makes Hamlet go "Is someone hurt? Cause I hear a whaaa-mbulance."

ok, these are the results I got at Play.com:

Villains United (An Infinite Crisis Story) - Gail Simone ; Dale Eaglesham ; Wade Von Grawbadger

Infinite Crisis - Geoff Johns ; Phil Jimenez ; Andy Lanning (Hardcover)

The Omac Project - Greg Rucka ; Geoff Johns ; Judd Winick ; Rags Morales ; Ed Benes ; Various

Rann-Thanagar War (An Infinite Crisis Story) - Dave Gibbons ; Ivan Reis ; Marc Campos

Crisis on Infinite Earths - Marv Wolfman

Prelude to Infinite Crisis - Various

Infinite Crisis The Companion - Various

What do I need?

There's also "Day of Vengeance," which is a story about the Spectre going crazy on all of the magic-users in the DCU, and a new team called the Shadowpact forming to stop it.

Of those, IIRC, Batman only featured prominitely in "The Omac Project," "Identity Crisis," and "Infinite Crisis" (I don't know if that was a factor, but this is the Batman forum so I figured I'd throw that in there just in case).

but are all these relevant to the Batman continuity?

I've been working on a super-comprehensive list of issues that tie into Infinite Crisis, going way way back with backstory and precedent for a lot of what happened. For example, Eclipso has a long history of possessing very powerful individuals, including the Spectre at least once. Rann and Thanagar have come to blows before. Batman's efforts at keeping tabs on heroes have backfired before, most recently and notably in the Tower of Babel JLA storyline. The forces of magic have been tainted in a universe-threatening way before. And the Secret Six are hardly new to the DCU.

There's about 300 issues for basic backstory and precedent, maybe 200 issues occurring in what has been called the Prelude, the period between Graduation Day and Countdown Special. Then there's another 150 or so that either officially tied into Countdown to IC, or should have. And then there's a little less than a hundred issues taking place within the brief timeline of IC itself. After that is 52, which is of course incomplete right now, and the OYL story arcs. I also included a section that I termed "Ripples of Infinite Crisis," which includes the reboot of LoSH, which was a direct result of events that tied into IC, the 1,001 Years Later arc of LoSH, and WildStorm's Captain Atom Armageddon, which is not only a result of a Superman-Batman arc critical to IC, but has a profound impact on Captain Atom's behavior post-IC. It's a lot of comic books to read, but I'm a perfectionist/completist, and it provides the most well-rounded, accurate picture of the events and characters integral to Infinite Crisis, as well as really good background and understanding of why those events occurred, and why the characters behaved the way that they did.

Just The OMAC Project and Infinite Crisis, really.

So if I have Identity Crisis, the OMAC-Project and Infinite Crisis, I´m good?
