Sorry to start another thread but .....:O

I'm talking sequences here not just an image or shot like in the other thread

Over the years many action/adventure movies have delivered classic sequences such as the final attack in Jaws where Brody kills the shark,The boulder chasing Indy,Spidey saving MJ followed by the upside down kiss,Helms Deep.etc.....

For me regardless of overall opinion on the movie Singer delivered 2 instant classic in SR

The Plane sequence-a beat perfect action sequence matching music/sound and visuals superbly, the part where Supes launches the shuttle into space followed by the slow mo soundless on board shot then the blast and we are back into the thick of it,just amazing IMO

The rooftop-Lois and superman's painful and awkward exchange followed by their nighttime float up around the classic Daily Planet globe and then across Metropolis

Thoughts ?

I agree. I also thought the final scene with Brandon and Tristan was an instant classic too.

The Young Clark sequence was a classic to me. It was like watching a young god or demigod realize their powers.

plane sequence is a classic, the rooftop nah

I would definately say the Plane sequence is one of the hot spots of the film. It seems like they spent a good bit of the time crafting that one sequence. I liked when hes landing it in the baseball field and it starts crushing with all his force against it. Really great scene.

That's the best intro for a superhero I've seen in any superhero movie to date.

The word ''classic'' gets thrown about far to easily these days for my taste, the plane sequence was very good THE highlight of the film, but IMO its not a classic and as for the rooftop exchange the dialogue in the whole scene makes it very far from a classic

I would have to agree with you on that. It was a perfect way to re-introduce Superman back into the world. It was so intesne, didn't seem like he was going to be able to stop the plane (though we knew he would). And the reaction of the crowd is priceless as Superman looks on and obviously happy to see that hes been welcomed back. Very good stuff!

Well im not prone to throwing anything around lightly my friend but the execution of the plane sequence combining all the elmenents both visual and audio i think it was an instant classic
As for the rooftop well i guess we shall just agree to disagree:)

The part in which Superman takes Lois into the air makes it a classic.

I agree that both of those sequences will fall into the category of classic when all is said and done, the plane sequence for classic action and the rooftop sequence for romance. Very nicely done.

The plane sequence was one of the most heartstopping sequences I have seen in a very long time, and no hero can deliver something like that on the big screen other than Superman.

I think Lois and Superman "dancing in air" is right up there with the upsidedown kiss from Spiderman.

I'd rather be able to say the FILM itself was an instant classic besides a cool scene here or there. There in lines the problem with the movie IMO, it had a number of scenes that were nice, but really lacked any kind of a coherent narrative

Well I thought the film was an instant classic. At least in my eyes.

Well as i said in my first post my friend, that while some may not like the film as a whole the re were classic sequences, for instance Indy 2 is not a classic movie but the mine cart sequence is a classic sequence IMO

It really showed what Supes can do with modern effects:up:

I agree and i predicted that way back after trailer 1:O

Also Hulk, your point has no merit, because although some films are regarded as instant classics, it's always certain scenes people remember (Raiders of the Lost Ark Boulder Chase and "No, I am your father!") and sometimes movies are known by themes (Jaws).

Hulk just hates the movie..i don't even think he likes parts of it.. i think the story got chopped more to move the movie along.. The return so to speak.

My post has plenty of merit. Classic films are remembered for being classic films. Having a cool scene doesnt make a film classic. Yes, most classic films do have some memorable scenes, but cinema is littered with films that have sucked that have a cool scene in them that's gotten remembered. Risky Business was an awful movie that was critically deried but yet most people can tell you about the underwear scene and Guido the Killer Pimp.... Tom Cruise has made a carrer off movies like that.

I could watch that plane sequence over and over again.

The rooftop was a very nice moment, but you have to include the post-rooftop moments with the burritos to really make it classic to me :D

Superman lifting that giant rock was awesome...:down :o

I remember you saying that, thats why I am tying it in. You made that analogy.

Both the rooftop and the plane scenes where classics, but the plane scene had to be the best sequence in a superhero film and really showed all of supermans power

Only thing I liked about the plane sequence was when it (finally) ended, he's taking in all that applause from the audience. It actually sent chills down my spine. That's a pretty classic moment.
