When itunes loads up with the ipod connected, this is info I have.

ipod - 30.86 GB Used

Library - 451.3 MB

I reformated my PC a while back, so now my iPod and iTunes library seem to be completely seprate from each other. And I can even use update iPod.

The only thing I can think of is consilidating my iPod to the same folder as the library draws from.

30 Gigs, ouch.

Any other ideas?

If I'm following you correctly, you're wanting to pull the songs and playlists off of your iPod back onto your computer since you had to reformat it. Is that what you're wanting to do, or am I misunderstanding?

Basically I just want to be able update my iPod with some new songs. But the update iPod option isn't selectable.

I have 3646 songs on my iPod, non of which show up in my library.

You need to get your iPod synched back up with iTunes, first. Then you'll be able to add songs to the iPod again. Check the iPod forums over at http://www.apple.com/support to see if others have had this issue (I'm sure you're not the first) and how you can fix it.
