For us to walk away when 3,000 soldiers have died, when Iraq is not yet secure, is to really waste their sacrifice as well as wasted the last 3 years because that would only result in Iraq falling into the Islamists hands.

The fact that they are offering a truce, means that they are losing and are now willing to beg for mercy. If they were winning, they wouldn't be offering a truce, they'd be continuing to do as they have been doing.

The best thing we can do is to push forward and get them to admit defeat, because that is the only way to win.

its not a waste of their sacrafice. their sacrafice allowed us to get to this point, where we can have a peaceful 2 years where we can build the country, its government, and its army to the point where they can take care of themselves. isnt that the point of this whole war, anyways? and like i said, if the insurgents are lying, then in 2 years time, they'll have the iraqi army and government to deal with. america has made enough sacrafices for iraq...its about time iraq starts fighting for itself and starts making its own sacrafices for THEIR county and THEIR people.

I am normally a very strong advocate about not pulling out until the mission is gone, but I think this is a chance we should take.

It would, however, be stupid not to leave a good amount of troops in Kuwait ready to go if the terrorists make any move to topple the government.

I would call them freedom fighters if they were fighting for freedom. Because America is a free country. Now lets say the USA occupied Germany and they had insurgents fighting to bring back nazism, are they "freedom fighters"? Hell no. Just like the terrorists in Iraq arent freedom fighters, they're fighting for something, and it definately aint freedom. The only freedom fighters in Iraq are American soldiers and Iraqi soldiers fighting alongside them.

It depends on the point of view and you must understand that there are some iraqi's who believe these insurgents are freedom fighters becuase theyre fighting for the way of life they had before the US rolled in. I agree that theyre fighting to do horrible things, but thats our point of view. Thus, why the one mans terrorist is another's freedom fighter argument always comes up in these discussions.
