Yeah I think only the gauntlets are in the briefcase and judging from the ET clip, I think that's how Tony saves himself from the Whiplash attack at the race track.

I hope its the entire mark V becuz that would explain the differences in the mark V suit and the scalloped look. But yah im prolly just a lil too eager for a suit in a briefcase.

Just depends on who drew him.
The design is modular - he can equip either side with the minigun.
