Hasbro's Marvel Comics Q&A: The Answers!

1) Cool Toy Review:

Q1: There's a photo of Robert Downey Jr. posing with a 6" version of Iron Man with sunglasses from the Randy's Donuts scene. Will we see a 3 3/4" version of Iron Man with Tony wearing sunglasses?

Hasbro: Look for an official announcement on the 6" Tony Stark with glasses at SDCC. Currently there are no plans for a 3.75" Tony with sunglasses...but never rule anything out when it comes to Iron Man's alter ego.

Q2: I'm not saying you have to divulge if a figure is coming but if you were to do Mandarin figure, would he be in MU or the current Iron Man line?

Hasbro: Well...I'm not saying that we are creating a Mandarin figure; but if we were it would be in the Iron Man 2 Comic based collection. And he would certainly need a removable helmet and energy sword if we were to create him. Of course, that's if we were creating a Mandarin...

2) The Fwoosh:

Q3: We’ve seen a plethora of 4″ Iron Man figures, both movie and comic based, as well as the recently released 6″ Iron Man 2 exclusives. Will upcoming movie tie-ins (Thor, Cap, Avengers) receive a similar release pattern, or is Iron Man 2 unique as the property has already proven itself in the marketplace?

Hasbro: Our movie properties are driving incredible results! Any news on figure sizes within future movies will be revealed at a later date.

3) AFP:

Q4: A couple of months ago, you revealed some new Iron Man 2 3.75-inch figures we hadn’t seen before – Black Widow, Nick Fury, and unmasked versions of Iron Man in the Mark VI armor and War Machine. When should we expect to see those on shelves? Will they be widely available or exclusive to a retailer? Will Iron Man and War Machine come with interchangeable heads for their masked looks?

Hasbro: These will arrive in store this fall (closer to DVD timing in October) at various retailers. We do not yet have confirmed launch dates from the retailers – so keep your eyes peeled! And, yes, they will come with their masked looks as well.

Haha, after looking at that picture of the unmasked 3" figures vs the "hangover tony" in RDJ's hand, I think I have won the "the 6" line is better" argument. 3" figures in that pic= fail. Cheadle's baloon head, Whiplash looking nothing like Rourke, Fury's craptacular pimp coat, and blow-up action widow...yep, sure glad I'm buying the 6" hangover tony when he hits. I'd love to see a whiplash mkII in 6" form to make a sweet ass diorama.

Second one had a poorly painted left eye. He's got the right eye painted and half of his left eye painted.

I finally found the 6 inch figures at my local Wal-Mart. (Mark VI and War Machine). I almost plopped down the $25 for both of them, but then I didn't.

that's what I'm saying, the paint jobs on the 6 inchers are HORRIBLE. The 3 inchers have them beat by a freaking mile

Not to get back into the 3 inch vs 6 inch figure debate but the 6 inches are mass produced.

So there are bound to be duds

As for the 3 inch figures. All the paint jobs i've seen on them look all smushed together.

With the 6 inchers you have to sort through and pick and choose the ones with the best paint. I saw some REAL CRAP paint jobs on most of the 6 inchers, I was lucky to find a couple of good ones

I'm taking my chances on that. You're bound to find one like this

The paint apps on my 3.75" are way worse - I am looking at the War Machine and Mark V on my desk now, and both have faceplate paint misalignment. And I always pick the best of what's available when I buy.

Of both my 6ers, not only is the paint great, I didn't have to "pick out" one from the group - all twelve figs had good paint, no "best" or "worst".

I'm hoping that since they're making 3" drones, maybe we'll see at least one in 6" form. I'd gladly buy a few, repaint and mod some to make them look like the others. Easy enough to do since I'm used to making military models anyway.
