Ok, thanks. Is that your estimate or has that figure been mentioned by Marvel/Favreau ?

Oh, and btw, Sava. You should change your avatar back to the titty one, it was mesmerizing :-)

Oh, that's too bad. Prudes:down

^ That's about what I figured. Around the same as ghost rider. Won't require as much CGI but practical effect will be insane in this one. Check out the Q & A thread from Favrea he gave me an awesome update!

Will do !

Jon indicated that he is considering a lesser known actor, in small part to use the money a well known actor would command and use it on production, he is being cost effective with the budget he'll get, which I agree should be around $120-$130 Million, Marvel will want to make sure they put out a well done film and not skimp on dollars, just my opinion.

$130 does seem about right. Bigger and better than Fantastic Four or DD, but not quite as big as the high profile properties (Batman, Spider-Man, Superman).

I think it will be $150 as final budget.

The shooting should start in the beginning of March'07 and end at the end of July.

Post-Pruduction should also start in July.

I am expecting IM to be released on May 2nd, it is Marvel's strategy, which worked with Spidey and X2.

I could see someone like Matt Dillon getting the role too. I have a short list of favorites for this role.

This would be good i think. Of course for the second film after it grosses 350mil will get a much better budget;)

150 million, if this movie wants to get any sort of hype it needs to get a huge named cast.

$150 mil. Another studio trying to do comicbook films (of all things) on the cheap.

I guess this is going to be the norm with these films: Be consrvative, just in case the film fails, and hope for big returns to justify a bigger better sequel.

I've got a crazy idea...how about aiming high and making an outstanding film first and let the chips fall where they may.

Oops, silly me and my radical thoughts. Now where are my meds.....

Actually, I heard he wants to start shooting in Jan'07.

150 million sounds about right to me but it does not need a big name cast and Favreau said he wants iron man to be an unknow but i think the cast around him will be well used mid card actors kevin spacy as lex good john travolta in punisher bad

With Superman Returns taking a crap at the box office it may very well be that studios may start scaling back on these budgets. Up till now all the really big budget flicks have paid off.

Iron Man will need big budgets for the special effects and potentially more than Superman since we have a man in heavy suit taking flight.

In order for Iron Man to achieve success, it must be unabashedly go with big bang action sequence. Superman Returns is too drama oriented. SR advertisement sucks. SR trailers are boring - even Spidey 3 teaser is better. Iron Man trailer must show repulsor beam firing at targets, preferably a big bad robot.

$150M sounds reasonable.Good enough to develop excellent Special Fx

Not sure how likely it is to get that much, but it would be cool. I don't want it to go too big and not have a chance of being a very profitable movie. We want sequels don't we? Since the X-Men is done for now, I'd like to see this become Marvel's #2 biggest franchise behind Spiderman. I'd actually like it to pass Spiderman, but that just ain't gonna happen. Iron man just isn't as well known to the general public as Spiderman. I feel confident though in being able to beat the FF4, and eventually maybe even X3, but that's a ways off right now.

$150 Million is "on the cheap" ? Not quite. The fact that it doesn't break a new record doesn't make that so. The first X-Men film, now that was on the cheap. It was done for HALF that, and it had a dozen FX-requiring characters, a jet that they get around in, and atleast a few A/B-cusp name actors to pay.

On edit: Actually it might indeed break a new record, what FIRST INSTALLMENT in a superhero franchise had as high a budget ?

Believe it or not I read somewheer that more people know about ironman than they did about x-men and this was prior to the x-men movies. I have no doubt that ironman will anihalate F4 figures and can definately achieve figures of thex-movies if not more.
