The closest thing to a pun I would tolerate with Mr. Freeze is some cop telling him to freeze, and him starting to laugh maniacally at the irony.

That's pretty awful, too.

This thread just once again shows exactly what kills a great serious character: misplaced puns themed around something pertaining to the character. There are only a few characters that should use puns like this in batman, foremost being the joker. The closest thing to a pun I would tolerate with Mr. Freeze is some cop telling him to freeze, and him starting to laugh maniacally at the irony.

As long is it's just for an introduction scene. After the cop tells yells "freeze!" he turns around and says "That's Mr. Freeze to you..." and blasts the cop with his freezing gun. I could see that even working in a Nolan film.

Yes. That's actually what he said in his first appearance in the comics after changing his name to Mr. Freeze from Mr. Zero. I think.
