Is HD DVD worh it? I don't have an HDTV but I know an HDDVD player will work on some regular tvs and honestly, I really don't care about picture quality that much. What about extras wise and such?

Any next gen format (Blu-ray or HD DVD) will work on any TV, but to gain the increased quality in picture you really need to view them on an HDTV or Projector. I would say that if you don't care about Picture/Audio quality then it would be best to stick with DVD until you feel the need to upgrade (whenever you get an HDTV, etc.).

Unless you're getting a PS3 which comes with Blu-ray, i'd say wait until the format war is over. Having said that, I think it would be a safer choice to go with Blu-ray.

Problem is, I think this format war is going to go on for a loooooooong time.

I think in the OP's situation it's safer to stick with DVD.

Yep, yep.

Dvd's are still good imo.. seeing as i don't even have an hd tv.

Of course DVD's are still good. I love High Def, I appreciate the difference in quality but there are some really nice DVD's out there with great audio/visual quality. I still enjoy the movies and experience with DVD's, although the more I watch High Def Media, the more I can tell the difference between both formats.
