Xbox 360 HD DVD Player

look, you don't get it fair enough

jesus christ man, LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE AND STOP HASSLING OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT THEIR CHOICES :cmad: :o

I'm not trying to hassle anyone, I'm just trying to understand it.

I'm allergic to it. Certain kinds anyway.

but there are other people who like it

some people love cheese and will spend hundreds of dollars on a single wheel of stilton

others will be allergic to it or simply dislike the taste

but at the end of the day it's cheese, it's not like we're talking heroin here.

Hell we're on a comics message board. The average comic costs $3-4 and takes about 10-20 minutes to read. $4 for 10 minutes entertainment?????

and yet people pay it because they love it and that's what they choose to spend there money on. It's what matters to them

Me. I love movies, and each film I buy I will probably watch at least 20-25 times. Not because I'll actually sit down and watch (full movie experience, etc) but because i'll have it on in the background when friends are over or when I'm doing some work late at night.

So basically, if it's worth it to you then it's worth it, if it's not it's not. That's the nature of personal choice and individual's value judgements

I love a lot of movies too, but **** man, that list is just nuts. So basically you get them just to have them? You must be so rich that all you do is watch HD DVDs all day and don't have to work. Thats the only way I can imagine rationalizing spending that much money on it.

I have a list of over 1200 dvd's, excluding my HD list, which is something like 50 and growing, very fast.

Look at it this way. How much in a week do you spend on something like comics, or going out to the movies, or something else that you don't exactly need, but it's just something you want? I spend maybe 50$ a week on dvd's, more often than not its somewhere around 25$.

50$ a week, 100$ a paycheck, off an ~1000$ paycheck isn't ****.

I make £1350 per month after tax

Of that i probably spend around £125 on DVD's/HD DVDs

I then have £350 for my rent

About £150 for petrol for the month

Around £80 for bills

And around £120 for food

After that it's all mad money

1350-825 = 550
So even after I go mad on DVD's and take care of all the necessary expenditures for the month I'm still left with nearly half my wage packet to go out and get drunk on, save, spend on daisychains, whatever the **** I want to do

my wages will be spent on things that refelect my personal tastes, as yours will be doubtless be spent on the things you like.

Please stop the broken record dialogue, you don't see the value, we do

That has got to be one of the oddest analogies I've ever seen. Well done! :)

Have you been keeping up on the Hideo Kojima "dinner" analogies? He goes off the wall with those.

As soon as I get the 360 from the repair center  i can use the HD player

hey guys, i was just wondering if anyone here knows if it's theoretically possible for a company to develop a game for the 360 on an HD-DVD. in other words, would you be able to play an HD-DVD game on the 360 through the HD-DVD player?

Well, with the rumors of a new 360 coming standard with the HD drive, anything is possible. Its just that you are forcing the huge majority of 360 owners who dont have the drive to buy it if they want to play that game.

no

there's an HD DVD xbox in development but it's not intended to be used for games

yeah i'm aware of that, but personally i would pay the extra if it would mean twice or 3 times the Halo 3 and Mass Effect content.

bummer...thanks.

Thats what I am afraid of. Someone will make the game in which you have to use the HD DVD drive to play it, then it will snowball from there.

they'd never do it for three reasons

1. Read speed for HDM is slower. Hence all the development issues for the ps3

2. It would completely enrage 90% of their fanbase

3. Microsoft have made a big deal of sony forcing BD on consumers and how it's an option not a necessity. Even microsoft won't pull a 180 on that one

If it's needed they'll simply make use of the hard drive more extensively and slash the price of it

Arent there games for the 360 in which you have to have a hard drive? Didn't they say that they wouldn't create games like that?

Granted, Im not sure, but I think there are games that you must have a hard drive for.

And MS said many, MANY times that they wouldn't release a game that you HAD to have the hard drive to play, because they sold a unit without one.

difference is it's a lot easier to upgrade with a hard drive than a new disc drive

Its extra cost, though. They said they wouldnt, and yet, they did. Seems pretty suspicious that they are following the same pattern now.

They make it more than obvious that if you want to go online, you need a HDD. Being as FFXI and Shadowrun are online-only games, it makes sense.

i have a question guys/gals

I got the xbox360, the one that is 20gb with no HDMI. How can i get 1080p quality? I'm using the component cables that the system came with, but i here something about a VGA or something cable, what does that do?
