Cyclops.....you don't see him die onscreen, his body is never seen, Jean never says she killed him....she may have turned him to ash like everyone else, but I see it as a get-out clause for the character, just like Magneto and Xavier had.

well she did say "kill me before i kill someone else".:o

Um, with the way Jean was killing people, you wouldn't have seen a body anyways.

Cyclops is dead :(

Yet even in her flashbacks we don't see a body.

Flashbacks? Are u talking about when she looked at Scotts glasses in Wolverine's hand then started seeing stuff from when she ws at Alkili Lake? If so, when she had the flashback, she was kissing him on the rock.

It's enough of a get out clause for him to return if Fox wanted it enough. They're not too bothered with consistency or fake deaths. Multiple character recastings and the fact that Xavier returns within an hour of the most definite visual death possible prove this.

And if he wasn't dead, we wouldn't see a body either.

I don't think he is dead either Kevin... I suport these events that you said but Jean says to Logan in the med lab to kill her before she kills semoone else, so she at least think Scott is dead...

Now, I wonder, why Jean is found in the Alaki lake, far from the spot where she was with Ciyke... if she was tired after " killing"him ( because she couldn't control her powers well yet ) she wouldn't be that far, would she ?

I think that they didn't show the body for artistic reasons, we were meant to infer. However this being a comic book movie the only deaths that are accepted are ones that happen before our eyes, (even then that's not neccesarily true). Every one is saying assume, presumabley, stuff like that.

I think fans will be displeased if we at least don't get more solid comfirmation. (alot of movie fans were displeased with the absence of Nightcrawler, even though that was totally ommition) Because by this logic Pyro and perhaps Juggernaut would be dead as well since they were laying unconcious when Phoenix was obliterating everything. And we all know Magneto didn't carry Pyro out of there.

also Storm did say that it was not possible for Jean to kill Scott. no matter how messed up she was.

After Logan asked her about Scott, she has flashes of memory.

Yes, but we don't see what flashes in her mind. And remember she is unconscious when Logan and Storm finds her. She could've been knocked out hard enough that her memory could have gotten messed up.

Her mind is very messed up at that point.

Okay, let me rephrase what I said; the movie certainly infers that Jean decafinated Cyclops, but left enough ambiguity so that if he's required for a sequel, he can come back.

Yes. Lots of doors were left wide open. One can assume he's dead, however he could conceivably come back.

Xavier's death was as blatant and "before our eyes" as you can get & his death didn't even last till the end of the film ;)

He's dead until X4 says otherwise. :)

The real question is, what was he doing through out the whole movie. Just sitting in the woods with his eyes closed and yelling for Jean.

Also since the whole Phoenix hooplah and the fact that Xavier is probably scared of Cerebro they never even had a chance to look for him to see if he was alive.

Whatever happened, it was something devastating enough to send Xavier into a mind shock...If anyone knew that Cyclops was dead, it would be him, "You killed the man you loved because you couldn't control your power!"

In my opinion, Cyclops is dead...until another movie says otherwise..

That's what I'm saying.

It appears that I'll have to be the only hard-headed person here... :p

I still think he's living.

And if Xavier is supposed to know who's living, and who's dead... why didn't he know Jean was really alive in X2...?

She might've been unconscious all this time...

I know that.

I'm just trying to say that Xavier isn't the most reliable when it comes to sensing mutants. And Scott could be unconscious somewhere.

He does have Cerebro for a reason after all...

scott may have been unconscious as well.

i still have a firm belief that if an X4 comes out (which i doubt will be any time soon) and if they bring james back that they'll use the excuse that jean stopped phoenix before any real harm was done, and a resulting blast from scotts powers kicking in/ jean fighting for controll caused jean/phoenix to be knocked back and scott to be sent flying into the forest somewhere.

You ain't alone on this brother...

*tags hand*

As recently replied Prof X probably felt an immense pain of what appears to be a bad incident. He didn't know for certain what had happened or he would'nt have told his team to get to Alkalia lake and find out what happened.

Later Logan tells the Prof and Storm that he thinks she killed Cyclops, while Storm replies verbally the Prof expression looks as if he is now getting confirmation of what he feared... or thought he felt.

He later tells Phoenix (while trying to reach Jean) the line that is quoted by TNC...

So as you can see, he was more repeating what was reported to him than what he actually knew!
